Gor Mahia to play Seychellois club in CAF cup
The draw for the 2013 CAF Confederations cup has been made. Kenya’s respresentatives, Gor Mahia have been drawn against Anse Reunion of Seychelles in the preliminary round. The first leg will be played on 15–17 February 2013
Gor Mahia will be looking to atone for the disastous campaign of 2012 that saw them eliminated by Ferroviario of Mozambique in unceremonious fashion.
Should Gor Mahia beat Anse ReUnion, they will play Ennpi of Egypt in the 1st round. Egyptian teams have typically proven to be a tough nut to crack for East African teams. However Sofapaka proved 2 years ago that it can be done when they eliminated Ismailia of Egypt.
On paper Anse Reunion appears not to be a difficult team. In the past they have signed Kenya national team players such as James Omondi and Zablon Amakanaka as well as other internationals. So they will be no pushovers. The last time Anse ReUnion participated in a continental tournament was in 2008 when they reached the 1st round.
Last time Gor Mahia played Ferrioviario, the team was in turmoil due to infighting amongst technical bench members. The players were unfit due to lack of conditioning. There was no competent coach nor a coach who could command the respect of the players, the EC nor the technical bench. The players were fatigued and injury prone after the end year tour. Fans will hope that these issues will have been ironed out this time. A modicum of stability is required in order to prepare for continental assignments.
Can someone provide us with More info about our opponents please?

Where do we play first?home or away?
Being a Seychelles Club, am inclined to believe we have a real chance to progress to the next round. But we need our coach back and proper planning, we are not underrating anybody. That quality addition to the squad is now very crucial. We need someone in left back (speedy and can attack but track back immediately), in midfield (holding or attacking), a winger ( intelligent and can score goals) and a striker.
Lets do the home work correct this time round. We need to watch the tapes of the opponent well in advance to know their strength and weaknesses. Prepare the players earlier enough, eliminate or avoid general election infiltration into the camp
@Pod Antie, Dennis Odhiambo Omino of Thika United has proved time and time again that he can play that role comfortably. Someone in the EC please use the fringe players for a testimonial match for Amilo. It is disheartening that Julius Owino did so much for GM, even rising to the position of captain then he is dropped so unceremoniously simply because his colour has faded. The proceeds from this match can go towards the Log’s signing fee or purchasing the coach’s car, whichever.
I think it would be easier to plan when we have a coach with us. EC needs to make up their mind if they are bringing Logarusic back or hiring another coach and this should be done by latest next week. With a good coach and the quality players we have, sky will be the limit. We are not stoppable.
Now that we know who our CAF opponents are, isn’t it about time we put our house in order and sort out the coach and new signings as a matter of priority!?!or will we wait until the last minute then start saying “I wish we knew”!!
how can i contact your club ?
Supposing Logarusic parts way with GM will it be the end of the Mighty K’Ogalo; you guys am tired with your wailing and mauling over this guy. Bobby can handle team comfortably.
This information is good for us. However as Loga said regarding his contract there needs to a solution now than later. The team needs to start thinking as a team in their focus.Preparation needs to start so that they can be fit progressively.Let us not allow this disease in Kenya of doing things on the last day where we end up not achieving any thing. I plead with whoever is concerned not to sleep and take anything for granted.
Ogango no.8,you can get as tired as you want about the “wailing and mauling”,fact is,if we don’t get our house in order now,we will regret in future. And you will be one of the 1st to call for Sir Bobbys head if results don’t go our way.Its very obvious!!
@11 Fred , Logarusic fate is as good as sealed. The EC will not bow down to his demands however realistic or otherwise. Their very Slence over the contract details and logarusic outburst of the same in the public is an intelligent way of communicating to fans that we have indeed reached a dead end and parted ways amicably.
Be wise enough and prepare to soldier on with K’Ogalo with or without Logarusic. To the best of my understanding is that “Coaches will always come and go”, which is very normal in soccer business world wide apart from Man U and Arsenal. It’s high time we become realistic and face the future boldly knowing that JBO is the man on helm. PERIOD!!!!!
@OGANGO TRA ILER, I do not agree with you at this point. I do not think that Bobby can handle Gor Mahia as the head coach may be as deputy coach. My opinion is based on the few games that Bobby handled but failed to produce the desired results until Loga came in as the head coach.
I do not support Loga’s behaviours and outbursts which are not good for the club going forward.
I propose that Gor Mahia EC should seriously think through on how we can get an abled and qualified coach to prepare the team. I can see what happened in the 1st Leg of KPL happening again if EC do not act fast and cautiously. Gor Mahia is a big team that need a big and fully qualified coach.
I do think that we have right and technically qualified coaches in Kenya that can handle big clubs like Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. The pressures and demands from the fans of these two big clubs cannot be fathomed by the local coaches. These local coaches in KPL can only handle teams with no followings for example Tusker, Sofapaka, Sony, KCB, Thika United, Chemelil, Karuturi, City Stars etc. Why? Because high demands for the fans of these two big clubs dictates the performance of their coaches.
In this regard, EC should look out for a very good, gifted and qualified coach to handle Gor Mahia if Loga is not coming back. We must have plan B in place at all times to prepare the team adequately.
@ no 8 – sebbane – are you a coach or you just want to contact the club for public relations?
@ 12 -OGANGO TRA ILER – I agree with you Logarusic is not coming back.
At the same time I agree with @13 Mwakio that Bobby cant handle the team as head coach. Previously Dan had suggested (in other postings) that we can hire Koops. This Koops guy is the same person who has been caught in several occasions drinking with players…so rule him out of GM as a head coach. We need a good coach and who knows…he could be better than Lugarusic. We simply don’t need a quack and the coach should be able to command respect from players.
What is this eternal belief that JBO cannot handle GM cast on? And what does a qualified coach mean? Its sad that to several bloggers a qualified coach means a white man or at least a foreigner! I will remain a GM die hard no matter who remains coach. Remember the kpl has been recently won twice back to back by tursker under local coaches. These trophies have little or no regards at all for skin colours. Performance.
TEN REASONS WHY LOGARUSIC WILL COME BACK TO K’OGALO IN 2013
1. In his entire coaching career GOR MAHIA football club is the first team he won a silver ware with and to be precise a double with one back to back besides missing the championship title with a whisker at the eleventh hour.
2. Having coached teams in Ghana , where he had to dis -regarded his contractual obligation in favor of K’Ogalo early this year, He has become part and parcel of K’Ogalo family, his love for the club means that he will stop at nothing in order to realize his dream of making the once mighty k’ogalo regain it’s past glory as “Africans champions”. His desire can only be achieved if he commits himself to another year since he has the chance.
3. The EC knows that Logarusic needs GOR just like GOR needs him. It is just a matter of performance appraisal and any smart person will always take the advantage of his existing rating and profile to up his stakes and value to be in tandem with his take home. He knows that GOR can collect close to 5.5 million on good day and as a lay man may take is that
he is asking to be paid an equivalent of “one Mashemeji derby” plus may be SOFAPAKA and TUSKER home matches. The cost implication is where the decision making organ of our EC find it difficult. But he can still negotiate downwards if they factor to him that also to be included of all his demand there will be ,accommodation, personal transport, medical insurance and house help that will be calculated annually to reduce the demand to 2 million signing fee and monthly salary of 400,000 kshs. Thus totaling 6.8 million and we shall break even .
One of the EC members confirmed that Loga will be back. With our scanty information as bloggers we can only speculate but not talk with authority for things you are not privy to. I hope the new signings are as a result of the technical team reccomendations otherwise we will get Ballotieno and Felxhino type of players gain who the coach might not prefer. Let’s not mess players careers again like we did with the likes of Hugo, Balotieno, Hugo, Gaitho etc.
My worry is that our players are targets of other clubs. They have realised we have the talent but no money/or will to tie the players. When I hear that players like Kevo, Moses Otieno and Odhiambo, Rama, Danny, Jerry, Owino Misiani are targets of other clubs we need to get worried. The good thing is that we might get Pinches and Alphie. That would mean that we only need to target the striking force for replacement and we will then be ready for ReUnion and Egypt
@jabilo we need loga i cant agree more
