Gor Mahia to play Tusker at City

Fans in Kisumu were agitated. The sign reads. “Ranguma finish the stadium. How many times must you be told ? “

The KPL top encounter between Gor Mahia and Tusker which was originally planned for Kisumu will now be played at the City stadium on May 4.  The decision was made in order to give players a break from travel.

However work on the perimeter fence in Kisumu is still not complete. Hopefully it will be complete by July when City stadium is no longer available. Construction there has been going on and off since 2009.

The decision to play at City will likely disappoint Kisumu city dwellers where the club has an incredibly fanatical fan base. Perhaps the most fanatical club fans in Kenya are Gor Mahia fans in Kisumu. This has been true since time immemorial. Even legendary coach Len Julians once marveled at how fanatical fans in Kisumu were.

Tickets

According to futaa.com, Big Brother Events and Ticketing firm will be in charge and they have confirmed that the tickets will be going at Kshs. 500 for the VIP and Kshs. 200 for the terraces.

The tickets will be available on match day, at the City Stadium from 0900hours at big brother branded vans. There will be no advance tickets.

Return leg

Unlike in the opening leg where TM Frank Ouna utilized the regulat line-up, it would probably make sense to rest some players. This is especially true for the likes of Sserunkuma, Kizito, Calabar and Akumu who have been in international duty. Why not deploy Blackberry whom fans would like to see regain his form from 4 years ago. Not to mention Kopany whom fans have heard is a promising player but have not seen in action. Then there is Obwoge, Daniel Onyango , Joel Bataro and others who are perfectly capable of beating Tusker.

  • Omera blackberry is gone…..it’s unfortunate how this boy lost his game rapidly over the last 24 months. Was it hype or talent ?

Nobody loses their talent. Form is temporary. Class is permanent. A player who scored breathtaking goals and is one of the most exciting players we saw in Kenya recently cannot just lose form permanently. And no he was no fluke.

Unless Blackberry has an injury that is ending his career, he just needs a chance to regain his form somewhere. Perhaps its just lack of confidence.

  • give blackberry more playing time , stop misjudging a player with 5 minutes of play or warming the bench !!! we have to grow up as supporters , However , tusker , ulinzi and sopafaka always plays hard balls and my require dribbler like blackberry , give this boy chance , and more plying time .

Hi guys, that defeat to Tusker was hard to stomach! Why are we being so defensive nowadays even if we are getting results? Am not faulting our TB but guys this is Gor,nd I believe the team was playing fantastic football n winning while playing with natural wingers like Kenga and B.Berry! It doesn’t need brainer to understand that we can’t beat Tusker with our defensive approach, adagi.I rest my case.

Be reminded that there’s no shop or pharmacy near Nyayo stadium that sells painkillers or stomach ulcers drugs. Go K’gallo Go.

Good morning all while I was away you people kept your cool even in the absence of BW and BO, you went to Meru and saw it without the two. Now is the truth time, Tusker welcome to tok Komwanda if Ranguma cannot complete the Kisumu stadium. Who say Blacberry is finished? Jakoyo the joker? Blackberry is very much there and only more playtime can help him improve. You will have seen how jaded Dan has become of late, its time to change team, bring on unused players.

At this rate,am afraid come the end of the season,we will have wasted a pool of talent at our disposal.Gor participating in three tournaments kpl league, gotv, super 8 and soon E & C,why can’t our TB allow our not so regular players e.g bataro, kariuki,Dan etc to play at least one tournament from start to if possible final. Its very difficult for player who have sat on the bench almost the whole season and happens to be given a chance in the last 20 or 10 min of high profile game to do well against players who have been playing throughout. If this happens the player is further relegated to the bench.
In EUROPE, teams engage their reserves in league like format, this way the players are not only training but also play competitively hence able to gather match fitness, this is why you find that whenever they are called upon to play as first 11 they are equal to the task.
TB can put aside Tuesday as a day for reserve players or players who did not play over the weekend to play against any other identified team.

  • Okay…three contracts running out in the next two weeks………..shaban kenga, Rama salim and Eric ochieng.

EC please do not sleep on the job! I have taken the liberty to remind all kogallo fans to avoid a repeat of last transfer window.

Hope we shall learn this time round as our squad is very thin on reserves.
