Gor Mahia officials have announced that the club is on a campaign to attract more shirt sponsors for the club during the 2012 season. With Tuzo currently serving as the main sponsors, Bwana said their agreement with Tuzo is open and can accommodate more shirt/short sponsors thus willing space buyers are welcome for talks.
“We discovered that the Tuzo sponsorship allows us to have three more shirt sponsors so we are working on trying to get sponsors on board so we can manage to get more money for the club” He said.
Bwana said at this time the club needs enough money to help it sustain its huge budget that shoots beyond 60 million shillings for both the local league and continental championship.
At the same time, Bwana announced that the team is planning on a mega Family fun day next Saturday on 28th of January at the City Stadium as a way of reducing the budgetary deficit. This will basically be a family fun day and fans will pay to enter the Stadium.
They will also use the same function to unveil the whole team and the technical bench to the fans who will also get a chance to interact and take photos with their playing icons.
“It will be a huge day and we will have so many activities lined up. We will have small games like penalty shoot outs where fans will pay to play for example you pay to take a penalty against the team’s goalkeeper, juggling competitions, etc”, Bwana adds.
Gor Mahia also plans on an extensive membership recruitment exercise and an increase in sale of the team’s merchandise as another way of raising funds.
“We are planning on a tour of Murang’a next week to kick start our membership recruitment exercise. We anticipate this to be one of the biggest ways we are going to gather funds. We also plan on centralizing the sale of our merchandise and we have already put up adverts in the dailies to help us in the same”, Bwana adds.
Gor Mahia are set to play Mozambique’s Forroviaro in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup on the 18th of February as they seek to stamp their lost glory on the continental scene as well as start the KPL league title campaign in style and with a bang.
