Gor Mahia vs City Stars preview

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia begin their title defence against Kawangware based side Nairobi City Stars at City Stadium today. The match comes four days after the KPL champions edged out US Bitam of Gabon from the preliminary stage of the champions league and this should give them the motivation to start well. On their way to winning last year’s title, Gor Mahia chalked up 17 wins and know very well that to retain the title, they have to either win the same number of matches or add one more and in this case every match will count.
The KPL champions may be tired after a grueling battle in West Africa and this could force coach Bobby Williamson to juggle around his squad giving those who did not travel an opportunity to play. This means that veteran striker Patrick Oboya may finally have a chance to lead the team’s quest for goals upfront.

This means that veteran striker Patrick Oboya may finally have a chance to lead the team’s quest for goals upfront. It is however, unlikely that Williamson will bench his top striker Dan Sserunkuma for the entire match and the Ugandan is therefore likely to feature at some point.
In goal, Jerim Onyango is sure to start after a great show in Gabon during which he saved four penalties in a move that has instantly raised his profile among the club fans. The Gor Mahia defence look steady with Israel Emuge, Haron Shakava and David ‘Calabar’ Owino incharge. Godfrey Walusimbi playing his first match in the KPL is a great addition on the flanks and he has already proved he is an asset with a great show in the past two matches. City Stars understand the importance of starting well after they barely survived last season. The team was placed in 14th place after picking only seven wins.
City Stars have signed some veteran players like George Midenyo, Kevin Ochieng in addition to the likes of Jimmy Bagaye and Justus Basweti. This is also the first match in charge for City Stars coach Robinson Ofwoku who knows that he must start well to make an impression at the struggling club. Match starts 3pm.
I pray that fatigue be gone in Jesus name! Amen. We are going to win the match.
I wish the team well and pray for victory.

We pray and hope for positive results. This is the first match and thus should psyche us ahead of our visit to Alfred Mutua’s county on Sunday-(Mathare Match. For me and my family,I will attend all matches and cheer on my beloved team no matter the results.Once a K’ogallo, always a K’ogallo
This season,I pray that no lives will be lost in the name of soccer.lets all exercise restraint both in and outside the stadium.Inside the stadium, lets cheer on our beloved team even when results dont go our way(our opponents say we are used to leaving the stadium in protest when we sense imminent defeat.
Again lets all remember we cannot be coaches ourselves since we have delegated this role to the able hands of the Mighty Bobbys.we can pass a positive criticism but not to the extent of abusing our players or technical bench. We should rise and fall as one indivisible Kogallo team.
The comments from @tom and@jakorando make good sense. AR needs to move with speed on this issue and that one on the SACCO. As bloggers we also need to walk the talk. We have always talked of creating a branch.
what time is the match starting
Let the office or whoever is on the know confirm the existence of Gor Mahia playbill number 350100 so that we could start contributing whatever little we have to support our beloved club.
