  • I think one problem with Kenyan soccer is this . We tend to prefer young players than good experienced players. Not that there is anything wrong with young players, but preference should be given to good experienced players . Can someone tell me why Anguyo was let go? Look at the Gor team that won Mandela Cup in 87. They were all experienced players and I think 8 of them had been consistent Harambee Stars players. Michael Jordan did not win his first Championship until his 6th season. Look at his suporting cast of the likes of Pippen and Rodman. These were all veterans. I think this is what AFC was trying to do when they recruited the like of Situma and Shikokoti even though they ley my man Mike “Berry” Barasa go

Congrat’s boys for the good display. It’s unfortunate we lost due to lapse in concentration in some departments. It’s a good learning experience never the less since we were playing the big boys in CAF football.Just avoid the school boy errors and we will have a great season.

nice showing by gor mahia today but esperance were really off colour and still managed to win. shocked how ragued and moelhi were overun in midfield and they looked disjointed in attack with darragi really poor.
gor did well to press esperance through the game but their mistakes showed they have a long way to go to win in africa
anyway good show with many goals but in tunis the game will be different with taraji wrapping it up

Congrats team for the good fight. It was analysed that being experienced Esperance would punish our mistakes and that’s precisely what happened. Our team is still WIP (work in progress) so we should not be worried. The appreciation of the players after the game from the fans despite the loss also says alot about genuine gor fans. Keep it up

  • Thanks coach for making full use of set pieces, i knew this would unlock the tunisians and it did.

Bloggers pls! Bloggers pls! Lets not say defensive lapses……..we have been saying all along we need cover in central defence , even during the January transfer window some bloggers pointed this out, the central defene has really become our undoing, should shakava and David owino be away, I wonder what will happen……

Anyway, lets focus on Tunisia game, winning 2-0 away from home requires magic, real magic, the sort of magic that can turn day into night bearing in mind that we are still struggling to score from open play

  • The team played well but what was evident was inexperience. There were goals we could have easily scored but did not. I echo what some have said here, this team should be maintained for the next 3 years and your guess is as good as mine.
I still insist we need a good right back.

  • Jamaranda, do you think that Jerry is not a good keeper? why do you think he is not gud.Is it bcos he conceded 3 goals. How old r u in supporting GM K’Ogalo. This is football & goalkeepers r just Last defenders & when a team looses it is the team & not an individual player. in this case Gor Mahia lost to Esperance.Other teams loose by 6 goal & they have gud goal keepers. Im proud of Gor Mahia for puting a gud fight.Kudos K’ogalo

  • JERRY a metuuza second goal truth be told, our central defence had some problems but other departments were ok.lakini the second goal was due to jrrys blunder.that team was beatable but it so sad to see other players working so hard in the pitch while someone is just making cheap blunders to give the opponents chance of scoring.it is high time the coaches start altering the goal keepers in gor mahia no wonder kizito was really annoyed with jerry and they exchanged words.otherwise the team played very well but jerry a big nooooo.why save four penalties in bitam then you mess us up at the time we need you most….?the same thing you did for us when playing with thika united the other year.the only medicine is alteration of goalkeepers even others need playing time to proove themselves.

  • Kogalo hoye. Just finished watching the replay and my oh my esparence is beatable but this will require proper drill from our players. We only lost for lack of concentration and inexperience. Players must review the video with the technical bench and work on the techniques before we first meet Tusker on wed and later on Thika united.
God is on our side for sure and we just need to support the players.

  • Esperece is beatable bloggers if owino calabaar could be in that central defence we could have done well, but what i have realised of late jerry is like ozil of arsenal he will mess you up the time you need him most.though our central defence was blunder prone the first and second goal could not be there with a settled goalkeeper within the post.the second goal was totally jeerys blunder the first goal was very soft and the guy had panicked.I have to say that i was impressed let us rally behind the boys we can surprise this guys on their own home ground

The quality of our team is not in doubt. It is a fact we are the team to beat this season.@ 23 Jakoyugi thanks for calling a spade a spade. It’s high time the coach starts giving Bataro and Juma a chance. If Blackberry,Rama & Oboya can be left on the bench, why not Jerry Onyango?A good performance in Gabon does not make him immune to rebuke. No one is indispensible. Give other goalkeepers a chance.

  • The team played very well apart from inexperience in our defense that let in easy goals. Esperance punished us on our silly and school boys mistakes in both defenders and goal-keeper. Midfield was fantastic as Akumu, Kizito, Tim, Kenga dominated the midfield. We outplayed them in the midfield. The attack was ok apart from stopping to play high balls. We can all agree that Esperance defenders were panicking a lot and their experience made them not to make silly mistakes.

Goalkeeper was to be blamed and I do not know he had fully recovered. This is also a learning curve for Jerry. Why was Jerry panicking?

In future, on defense when Walusimbi overlaps, there is a need for a midfielder or one winger to cover his position.

Congrats boys and am sure we can beat this team.

Jerry hatuwahi sahau the way you messed us up on our final day with thika united and it is still there and fresh in our minds.i love the other players ,really hard working and playing a good soccer but jerry and musa panicked even before the game started though musa recovered and really played well in the second half.i join hands with other bloggers if rama, blackbery, obuoge can be benched what about jerry ..?when will bataro proove himself…?jerry is aplayer like others and there is nothing so special about him that makes him not to be altered.Gor has avery good team and in fact the players we have this year can form two strong teams but we cant keep on being messed up with a single person year in year out.we have to remember that it was mapunda keeping this guy on toes and he is gone, let us be ready for more blunders.thanks to the team let us keep the fire burning ,esperance will buy walusimbi very soon since there coach is really impressed by the guy.otherwise i enjoyed watching gor mahia playing very good soccer but the absene of calabaar really costed us.

  • Key consideration for our football sheriffs in Kenya that include KPL, FKL, referees are:-
    1. The officiating was excellent and I have not seen such kind of officiating for along time. The referees from Morocco were excellent and these men deserve to officiate in World Cup.

    2. Kenya football is improving as both Gor Mahia and AFC leopards though lost their respective games, both teams played very well. The two teams just need some level of experience to kill their opponents.

    3. Gor Mahia game was this time organized very well apart from cases of fake entry tickets. Who are responsible for this ugly and bad behavior?

    4. The top two team are in dire need of many sponsors. Corporate world please help our boys by sponsoring these team.

    5. The two team have great talent of footballers that need to be nurtured very well.

    6. Government of Kenya need to come in and help these two team if we are serious as a country in creating jobs for our Kenyan youths.

  • We were punished coz of three blunders. But I saw potential on 2/3levels which we MUST YES MUST BUILD ON.
    1. The crowd can be double if enertaining football goals & wins are maintained. Team must convert all those Walu’s crosses. This is a player u r certain will beat the defense & cross, anticipation by forwards nids 2 improve.
    2. GM is more suited to the passing game only a bit more accuracy & target practice is needed. BW give other keepers a chance but we should also note that after……

  • blunders Jerry usually embarks on a long stretch of outstanding performances.
CAF was a long shot but with the performance yesterday it will be sad that the team may be eliminated so early due 2 meeting a tough side. So what of next year? & the next!
EC in particular & the GM fraternity at large must build on this team. New EC members lead the way. Financial stability of the club must be enhanced so we don’t lose players. Administrative matters especially player contracts streamlined.

  • @Mwakio i totally agree with you on te part for covering walusimbi. The bottom line is inexperience but the coach should have seen this like everyone saw i presume. You could see this led to Emuge being drawn out and exposing the central but again i could excuse the defence pair of Emuge and Shakava who seem not to read each others move.On Jerry i agree with that he could have prevented the first two goals. On the first he was better placed to tell Musa to play safe because the striker was on Musa blind side. On the second he had no reason to leave the goal post. He should realise he faces the field and always in a better position to instruct the defenders. Personally i think the most improved player was Kizito Baba and i pray to God he continues working on his fitness. Over to you coaches.

I am disappointed with the result but proud with the fighting spirit and the ball artistry the boys displayed.Esperence built on their failure of 1987.We never worked on our Success. The result is there for all to see.If Gor management of those eras had continuously rebuilt the team,I am sure,we couldn’t have lost that match. This notwithstanding,I have never been more proud to be a Gor fan than now.Hats off for all the players. You will never walk alone without the green army’s support.Jerry, dust yourself and get up.You had a bad day in office on Saturday. It doesn’t mean it will be another bad day on Wednesday or in Tunis.I can’t judge nor condemn you because of the result of this match. There are matches which you single handedly won for us.You are a great keeper.Avoid those mistakes though.God bless Kogalo.

What a game, what a ball,it is obvious that the absence of G.O Callabar, was felt in defence. Was also pleased to see the Mahia Peter Dawo on the pitch to give the boyz the morale. All is not lost exept that Jerry jagoal was the Jerry of 2012.

  • Good display. Now work on the weaknesses.

The most notable result from the game apart from the goals is that we have players but we don’t yet have a team to challenge the best. Our EC needs to work on long term goals. It’s good to measure ourselves against the best but basics like a sponsor should be clear before the season starts. Players must be wondering who will pay them. Fans are okay bila Tuzo but how about players?

Our boys played their hearts out!that,s for sure. The team entered the pitch knowing very well the task ahead and you ncould see that they intended to win just that in football you win, draw or loose.
The team should hold thir heads uo and work on any lapses that they may have noticed that resulted in esperance scoring . Otherwise to me ,we played so well it was almost like awin considering our opponents of whom I expected better display of soccer which was not to be1
    well done boys.

  • I said it here and I dare repeat myself: It has been a while since we participated in CAF Champs League, therefore, this time we would just make our intentions known, and truly the team just did that: Esperansa were given a rude shock, and they never imagined we would outplay them like that, however, some time in 2012, we played a Sudanese team same venue, GOR outplayed that team but still lost: meaning we are organized only that we lack the killer attitude, in front of goal, we are so shy, and I believe like every other supporter that we shall overcome this.
I laud our boys, same to our supporters, it was a family fun day out there and people indeed came to watch the giant . . . . .What we witnessed was entertainment and that is what we always go for
