i really enjoyed the way our boys played yesterday,if only given a chance any they perform, why can’t we be happy ?it was just great and at least for now I have no worry for congested fixtures, coz loga can now rotate his squad with confidence, the inputs from wiper, mm, gaucho, otieno was perfect. we should however learn to utilise our chances fully, we should not let them go like the way serrenkuma did while ramma was alone and could easily convert it to a goal. all in all am happy and God bless GOR MAHIA FC.

Let us be having such surprise/unpredictable lineups to give all players equal chances; otherwise any player not utilized by May 2013 needs to be offloaded immediately come the June/Jul transfer. We played well but for some reason, scoring is still a problem…

  • that was a good performance. even though the rain spoilt the good soccer i’m sure ulinzi felt the weight of gor. still logar u need to open defences. players like serenkuma also need to know that giving the killer pass also adds to ur CV. Mutiso guy is good. on my opinion, accuracy in passing needs work. the accuracy rate in ulinzi and tusker is impressive.

We always say here in this fora that give these Mutiso aka wipper a chance and u will see results, and we saw it yesterday,my take is that the coach needs not to panic sometimes like yesterday there was no reason for sub and if at all its only Gathu who could av come out,all departments were well taken care of as u see when wipper came off for K14 we lost the pase and speed we had in wipper even Anguyo was deadly yesterday that he was not supose to be substituted, sometyms we need not even to sub like jana it wasnt necesary, good poeple thats is just my thought.

Congrats to the team. They played really well in-spite of the wet and muddy conditions. The fringe players proved they were good and seemed hungrier and fitter than the soldiers who ideally are supposed to be fitter.
However,i echo the sentiments from erico@5.The whole team played well and there was no need for subs as they disorganized the team.It just goes to prove hurried subs don’t necessarily work every time!!
Points to note….relieve Dube from penalty taking duties. In all penalty shoot-outs that we have been involved in,he has only scored once and his body language is generally negative. Then,Ssrenkuma must stop being selfish. He must learn that its a team game and pass the ball when his teammate has a better scoring chance. All the best against KCB on sunday!!!

Our boys displayed a good game yesterday. I thank the tech. bench for giving ‘new’ players chance to show their skills on the pitch. I was impressed by how Mapunda was strong on the goal thro the 90 minutes; Mutiso, Gathu. I stil kindly appeal to the tech. bench to use this 2nd line up in this top 8 tourney. Abbey Natty be given chance. @5 Erico, subs are very necessary in any game. If u could read the game well smthing had to be done in the midfield to get more attack, so Akumu & Njuguna were brought in.

The only regret is that the rain spoiled what would otherwise have been a good game.
I think these so called ‘fringe players’really prooved their worth.
Its’ a high time some of them were started in the league matches so that some of the ‘main players’, can know that its’ no longer business as usual, and that complacency wont be tolerated.
Like I said earlier logarusic should have faith in each and every player. If for example, pablo or akumu, is not available for one reason or the other, their is no need of converting sserunkima or nasio as a makeshift diere, give antony gathu the job.
Moving forward, I think we are not doing so badly.A win againts kcb on sunday, will give us the much needed impetus and momentum as focus now shifts to the domestic league.

@Walter scoring is still a problem because the strikers are receiving very legible passes which come in the form of long balls. We need a diere who is creative with the ball. A playmaker like Iniesta or Xavi. Someone who can hold the ball confidently as the strikers take position and release a killer pass at the opportune moment. The lack of this guy is what makes us resort to long passes which are very predictable. In my view Ulinzi dictated terms in much of the game as long as we played the long passes, however they had to chase shadows in the last five mutes of the first half when we played our trademark short passes. I am not condemning long passes wholesome. They can prove very deadly when used effectively to catch a defender napping. We should re-think our attacking strategy for as long as we depend on those two pint-sized gentlemen for attack. Yesterdays defense was outstanding and it would be hard to believe they were second string. Simply superb. I cannot condemn Odhis Dube regarding penalties. I still believe in him. Dube only needs a good rest and he will deliver penalties and all. A replay of Jatowel’s second penalty save just confirms that Ivo is superior when it comes to penalties. That was a great save without any infringement. My take is the the linesman wanted to appease Ulinzi.

@barefoot bandit, the kind of player you are talking about, a game/playmaker in the mould of xavi/iniesta/seedorf/ozil/pirlo are hard to come by in this corner of the world. They are few and far between.
Over the years, only humph (mieno), has come close to what you’re talking about. And thats’ why @oduor12, made so much noise here during cecafa that we needed to get one of those ethiopian attacking dierez.
On the towelman saving erick apuls’ first penalty, those of us who watched the match on sofaset branch will agree with you 100%,
that was a clean save, no infringement whatoever. The second assistant had his own agenda.Meanwhile jacton odhiambos’ saves on dube and mosoti, not contestable at all.

I am deeply concerned about the teams inability to score. It will cost plenty of points. The players are playing well but not scoring. Loga blames lack of quality finishers. However as some have pointed out, the strategy of long balls is largely to blame. You cant play long balls when the strikers are not tall. We need a playmaker who can play the kind of balls Sserunkuma and Rama like

  • I believe we will soon start scoring. We underwent the same misfortune last year and I even saw Ngwa really pray and sob when we scored against Rangers. From what I saw yesterday that we have the depth to cover almost any player in that team, from Jerry, to Wekesa, Nasio, Dan Owino, Akumu, Njuguna, Dube, Kevin, and even Rama and Danny. The following fitted well in their positions Mapunda, David otieno, Emuge, Musa, Wiper, Gaucho etc. Now we want the coach to blend these players give Wiper, Gaucho, Moses Otieno ample playing time. Lucky Dube, Daddy and all the rest being assured of a first eleven are not giving us 100% or more. The problem is that we know their potential so if they underperform we can tell. , Gauchos and D. Otieno have more to prove. Striker Abbey should also be tested . He could be our lucky break in scoring

Ooh Laa la!! “Ulinzi unhappy with Top 8 officiating”
    Courtesy of Futaa.com

The ULINZI football administrator cum H/Stars team manager one Capt: Joe Birgen is complaining about the poor officiating during penalties shoot outs and it has hereby been correctly confirmed by @Arrumtiddi on post 13 above.

    RESOLUTIONS

1.ULINZI just accept the result and let us move on for the sake of peace in Kenya.Top-8 is available yearly.

    2. Ulinzi you have the option of appealing your valid case to the SUPREME COURT and wait for the unanimously recorded “six minutes” judgement from the “Six guys”.

    3. And when the verdict is upheld and CONFIRMED then respect the authority and decision of the JUDICIARY.

HISTORICAL TRENDS OF GOR Vs ULINZI IN THE “SUPER-8”.

We can’t have two parallel “GOVERNMENTS” in top 8 knockout tournaments. The first edition of the tournament that you won we were robbed during the return leg of our semi-final in a floodlight match at the same venue and whatever happened after ;Your guess is as good as mine.We had to pay you 1 million shillings as a damage fee after the resultant riots.

    3. The second edition we both qualified for the final but for our case the “OTHER-TEAM” opted to pullout and we got a walkover. But still it was only going to be declared one way between the two KDF’s. During extra-time we pumped in two controversial goals and carried the day as “K’Ogalo Defense Force” aka “Green Army”.

    4. Yesterday Ulinzi for heaven sake you were purely victimized due to some external factors caused by “Some events” that took place in the recent past and as such you could not escape our wrath. The match officiating was biased to appease our ego-centric feelings.

    5. The same case applied during the EUFA championship Quarters between Mallorca of Spain and Dortmund of Germany, so please bear with us and move on.After all the “Super-8” is an annual tournament that comes every year as long as you stay amongst top in the TPL season and more so we were meant to understand the same with IEBC with regard to electioneering. POLENI COMRADES!!

I think long balls was our option for yesterday as the ground could not allow our free flowing soccer, but despite us having short strikers i was amused by the three ie rama ,sere ,and wiper. we will break the jinx soon.

@Arrumtiddi I concur with your observations. One thing I know is that talent can always be refined if we put our mind in it. Now That K14 is slowing down, if he is trained well he can fit that bill. The other player who could do that is Gaucho. He demonstrated glimpses of vision and confidence. As you list those recent and current midfield dynamos never forget to mention Dan Ogada and Tom Juma. They belong to that class.

@The Trailer you have given Ulinzi the naked truth. I would strongly advice them not to take their grievances to a supreme court that is pre-programmed to reject every grievance they shall lodge. All in all I have learned to enjoy our matches with Ulinzi. The ball artistry of Steven Ochola is a joy to watch.

the players did well and I hope they will always contninue doing well.playing long balls was necesary because of the state of the pitch.we r the team to beat and eliminating ulinzi is what we needed to tell them to know pple.it was also a very sweet revenge for loosing a league match to them.
I am over the moon for eliminating ulinzi in top 8 tourney

guys really? do we have midfielders like Magongo, Otieno engine?, do we have defenders like Bobby?, strikers like Dawo? wingers like Jogoo and Lule? do we have coaches like Juliens or Jack Johnson? for success we need to reflect deep and modernise with times. midfield is the fulcrum of every team, and only when we shall control every game from midfield then shall we conquer with ease. we need to play a midfield of five, two defensive and three attacking then we shall control, also the boys need to do leg press and squats kwa gym for power and stamina.
