Happy Trails to Moses Odhiambo
Moses Odhiambo aka “Odhis Dube” has signed for Omanian side Salalah.
Odhiambo has been one of the best and most consistent performers for Kogalo over the past 3 years. He is a classy playmaker whose cultured feet have set up many goals for the Kogalo striking force. Aside from setting up goals, Odhiambo has been a hardworker on defence , tracking back to help the defence as neccesary. His consisstency has seen him be one of the few players to maintain a place in the starting lineup. In 2012 he was voted as Midfielder of the year by the club.
Salalah’s Serbian head coach Goran Miscevic said he was impressed by the player’s brand of football and his fighting spirit that has been his hallmark. He termed the dread locked player as a player worth signing adding that he will add more value to his team.
Miscevic told supersport.com “Moses Odhiambo is a naturally gifted midfielder who can also score vital goals. I have been monitoring him and I have been impressed with his quality and he is a player who can really benefit Salalah in midfield that is why I have signed him,”
Odhiambo on his part said he was delighted with the move saying it has always been his desire to join the paid ranks to improve his game.
“Gor Mahia is a team I love with all my heart and cannot forget the undying support of the fans and my fellow players who have been there for me. As a footballer we always dream of moving up the ladder and that is why I decided to give Salalah move a chance since it may also open windows for other players.”
“I want to thank Gor Mahia technical bench and office and assure them that I will always have them in my heart as I go for this great challenge at Salalah a team with great history and tradition in Oman”Odhiambo told supersport.com before departing via Ethiopian Airways.
Odhiambo is expected to sign a lucrative one year deal reportedly worth $80,000. Salalah are said to have splashed sh 6.4 million as the transfer fee.
Aside from being a setup man, Odhiambo has scored several crucial goals for Kogalo. Most notable was his headed goal against AFC Leopards in the second leg match of the 2011 season. he is also known to be disciplined and a hard worker and has been a role model for other players.
The talented midfielder first came to prominence in 2003 when he turned out for the now defunct Utalii FC before going to APR of Rwanda and later Moro United, Simba SC and Yanga of Tanzania.
Though he will be missed, this column would like to thank Moses Odhiambo for his stellar performances over the past 3 years and wish him the very best in Oman.
Kudos Dube, we are proud of you. You served the army with dedication and we wish you all the best.
Thats what we need you have our respect you are one of the few dedicated players for Nyamnyam,we wish man Dube well in his new challenge
We wish you well Odhiambo Lucky Dube and be a good ambassador of Gor Mahia outside there. We know that you really fought a good fight and it is time for a big paycheck.
Let all other players learn from Dube…he was always discipline…let our players replicate his humbleness and they too will succeed.
May Almighty God bless Odhiambo and Gor Mahia in Jesus Christ mighty name…Amen
even though we will miss him much, the 6.4 million will remain in the hearts of Kogalo and Dube will be remembered as the first player to be bought with such huge a mount of money in the history of Kogalo.good luck Dube and make ways for your comrades.
Odhisi we are very proud of you having performed well at gor. Do it again and again

One of the best midfielders to have been overlooked during the selection of our moribund national team
Dube, please make a name for yourself there. Do your best and know that sky is the limit. We’ll miss you at GM.
One of the best technically-gifted,composed and hardworking midfielders to have played for the Green Army..All the best in your future endeavors.
All the best Dube. I like the way he wins balls and he is a play-maker. In order for Harambee Stars to go anywhere, we need such players.
Dube hard work pays keep it up man…….who ever wrote this odhis was in for 2yrs not 3yrs…check it
Very few saw this coming!Dube had been the most industrious midfielder 2012 TPL season
Dube knew exactly that playing for GM and being viewed on supersport playing for such a big club with a rich following was not just that, but an avenue for growth. That’s why his discipline both on and off the pitch as well as the focus on the ball never hit the headlines for wrong reasons.Best of luck dube, keep up the same spirit and may the almighty guide you in all you do.
I know Sir. Bobby is thinking of signing another midfielder which is a good idea to add depth into the midfield.I strongly believe this is the year for kevo (K14) to step up into Dube’s shoes. After coming on as a substitute on most occasions, he must be so grown by now to give the most formidable midfield (with teddy)in TPL next season.
Last but not least, do we really need all these strikers?
1.danny,
2.mubiru,
3.b.berry,
4.abbey,
5.lavatsa,
6.kiongera,
7.rodriguez
8.rama(not forgetting that he has not yet signed any contract yet)
@12 – odipo I will respond to your last query – Yes we need all those strikers and may be one or two more. Secondly, in the list, Abbey is not a striker per-see. Our attack must be strong and very competitive. This year it may not be Kevo(14) to step into Dube’s shoes but I believe if we sign Obadia Ndege from Tusker or black Berry then that is the man. Kevo is good but you cant use him like a utility player as Dube used to do. Currently in GM we only have two utility players (Dube and Anguyo and maybe by extension Teddy ‘Viera’ Akumu). With the good physical trainer (fitness trainer) we currently have I believe we will score more goals this time round and we can win the league unbeaten to revive old memories.
