Ivo Mapunda and Rama Salim put pen to paper

Highly sought after players ; goalkeeper Ivo Mapunda and midfielder Rama Salim have both signed for Gor Mahia after a long tug of war that pitted many teams in search of the services of Both players.

The vastly experienced Mapunda previously played for Yanga of Tanzania, St Georges of Ethiopia and recently was at Bandari. He will shore up the goalkeeping position which is critical as Kogalo seek continental glory.

Defender Lloyd Wahome has also joined Gor Mahia from Mathare united. Defence is another area which was atd shaky this past year. Eric Masika was also rumoured to be being sought after by AFC Leopards.

Kogalo fans will be hoping that Rama Salim can provide the spark in midfield that will be needed to score goals. This season, Gor Mahia scored 27 goals, a far cry from the 38 scored by KCB.

Mapunda, Rama and Wahome, karibuni tena sana Kogallo. Ma fans, let us welcome this great players and also give them time to gel with the current team. Let’s not put alot of pressure on them. I think pressure is what made a player like Ezekiel Odera fail to perform, yet he was a very good goal getter at KCB. For God and my club Kogallo

Excellent signings…but let us also go the normal Gor Mahia route of signing unkown and young players to gel together with the experienced players. This is indeed good for CAF Cup.

Good signings. But Kogalo still has not addressed striking. Meanwhile AFC have signed Victor Ochieng and Sofapaka have signed a promising player from Nyakach called Agwanda who is being dubbed the next Oliech.

good work new office. now we need a good striking force. once we are done with the defence and midfield, then Kogalo will be the pillar to break.
someone should try the recent CECAFA strikers especially, Sudan and rwanda.
for now lets meet tomorrow for Kibunja.

  • We don’t need to sign strikers. Our midfield was a little down and now after adding Rama, we are likely to see improvement on Kiplagat, Lavatsa, Moses, Mwalimu, Kevin and Ochomo.

We now have three qualified coaches on the bench and we need patience to let them transform the team. I also urge fellow followers to play our part in supporting the team morally and financially and leave the other decisions to the able hands we now have in the EC and Technical side.

Let’s meet at Nyayo and everywhere else Kogalo will play in future.

Spot on Creative Village. Striking has a lot to do with the midfield. With Rama (who can also get his own goals) we have increased both creativity goal tally. Competition and motivation should make our midfield and striking units deliver. I still have issues with both full back positions. What we have is not good enough for both continental and local leagues. We must strengthen.

Late eighties it was Zamalek and Engine who set the standards-coaches was Len, now its Rama and Gatusso-coaches is AA. It could be lethal. For strikers please forgive me for being repetitive, but that Djiboutian striker could take on opposing defences solo and score. Surely players from that country can’t be unaffordable. Wish he could be recruited?
