Kogalo chasing Rama Salim
According to various reports, Gor Mahia have been pursuing Congo United’s outstading midfielder, Ramadhan Salim Mbuguss. Other teams that have been chasing his signature are Mathare, Sofapaka, Tusker and AFC Leopards. The Daily Nation reports that he has all but decided to sign for Gor Mahia. If so, he becomes the first major signing for the 2012 season.
Rama Salim has been a crowd favourite in Mombasa for his quick footwork, vision. His father Athman Khamisi alias “Mbugus” played for Bandari in the 1980s and 90s. Rama as he is popularly known attended Serani high school. He would be the second Congo United player to join Kogalo after Wycliff Ochomo who recently sat KCSE exams.
Great news. I hope it is a done deal.
Good move another one like that.
Karibu Rama. We want another one.
Gor does not have a striker, they should sign one.
Good pedigree, shld he sign up my only wish is for him to reach the heights of Zamalek.Hope that the EC is making structured negotiations so as to maintain/improve team unity n cohesion.Lets chase another CECAFA midfielder frm ethopia/zim/malawi/sudand personally based cecafa performance i rate the djiboutian marksman ahead of V.Ochieng.Can GM sign him?
Hope Rama joins Gor, he is a professional and always gave Congo his all, even after they had been relegated. How old is he? Hope he can give us service for a solid 3 years. We also need Victor Ochieng, showed flashes of brilliance in Dar recently. Would certainly improve under Anaba Awono or whoever takes over (hope an experienced pro coach, foreigner). More importantly we must sign a right back and left back. For left back why not Juma Onyango from Thika United (replaced Odhiambo in Dar last week)?
Good move welcome RAMA to the club.U have what it takes.Let me also welcome the NEW office the work has already started.to the fellow fans,we continue with the support we gave Kogalo to the season which has ended we continue next year where we left coz next year as the chairman said on his main agenda is to win the league. To fellow BLOGGERS BRANCH,we shall be holding our meeting on 17 DECEMBER 2011 @ 11.00am before the match with our inlaws.
Good catch this one; bring on Fredick Onyango(“Uche”)of Sony, big, strong, skillful and could prop up midfield and attack and with Ochomo(Ulinzi interest?) will be two big, strong combination upfront. Two ruthless, authoritative defenders Omino of Stima, David Otieno of Sony if available. And if one can get Kevin Kimani you can do with out V Ochieng.Jus my thoughts.
I still prefer our own players but if he has joined us then karibu Rama. For depth it’s okay but i hope we won’t start releasing our promising youngsters after buying older players.
Moses Otieno for me is the top young midfielder in Kenya today, only that he is still not yet developed fully. AR and Bwana please don’t let Tusker snatch this guy. There is also a short and stout Ugandan lad in City Stars whom no one is talking about. I feel he can be a good bargain if we must buy more. The guy is a ball player and can be a game changer.
If we are getting a qualified tactician then we need to retain our whole squad especially the young players and teams will see fire come next season.
I watched an under 20’s game between Zambia and South Africa and those boys are tactically superior to any of the KPL teams. Kogalo must now lead Kenya in believing in youngsters. There is no other way to grow soccer here. Forget the academies, we can have young players and they will deliver.
I suggest that Nyamweya orders all KPL teams to play a second league for strictly under 21’s. This can be one way of growing youth teams instead of always talking about developing talents and doing nothing. FKF also need to put money into high school soccer and automatically players will sprout.
Welcome Rama. We need another Abbas Magongo/Abdulla Shebe to bring the thrills and creativity in the midfield. We should not forget the goalkeeping dept. It needs to be revamped. We also need a tried and tested centre back. As much as Anguyo has been playing the part Okello of Bandari proved to me very stable in that position.
how about the Burundi captain for the defense actually what we need to do is to clear dead wood like tonny onyango, opondo,Collins omondi, jerry onyango anyway these are merely suggestions
wellcome rama that has been undoing point in Gor mahia midfield since opiyo left.lets have ochomo too back in team after studies
Arthur okello
Creative village am with you on this opinion of letting the current players work the way up the ladder.
I think we had a terrible philosophy in the former tech bench (head). How many good players are in other teams? I see these big teams in KPL having all good players..i hope we’ll not get back to the roller coaster we’ve had all these years of getting players, booing them and signing others..its good am not in charge, i would have signed only five school boys..one left back cover, one right back cover and two central defenders for depth and cover.
Where are we taking all these players we are signing?
If anything GM has always thrived on introducing young Schoolboys at the big stage, we are mererly adding onto the confusion we inherited from ZD.
Remember we lost Black berry and Ngwa only..we should have promoted Owiti and Kip as replacements but instead the whole team was reshuffled and now see where we finished.
Let me surprise you..i will not be so much disturbed if GM fail to go past the first round of the CAF cup..reason-when GM won the Mandela cup in ’87 the preceding results of previous seasons were consistent with that of a champion which is a sharp contrast of what GM is today. We will not do well by just signing stars from other teams..Success is worked not crafted.
We are already overstaffed in the midfield and striking departments what do we need Victor Ochieng’ for?
@ Agwa Kassam…i agree with you..we should be bold enough to release some players..e.g Kevin Ochieng, Selenge…honestly we can do without them.
We need a motivated playing unit of 30 players. We should do a thorough audit of players signed by our former coach (i promised never to mention his name)….we should mould those players signed by Siang’a, mentor them, advise them, tell them to shun alcoholism and bang (just in case the former coach taught them the vices)…Technical Bench please address this issue. Then we should have a solid Youth team…as we wait to actualize the academy..and this will be aided byu the Secondary games.
Agwa I support your views, in fact I am not for sacrificing any of the current players unless ofcourse one wanted to leave on their own, and this may happen given the aggressiveness of other teams towards Kogalo. Lets keep all that is there but with just a little revamping if we want to be realistic competitors at continental level. Lets give all the lads a chance to grow at Kogalo, they were there when they were young lets not push anyone of them out now.
I believe we have a good set of players but we definitely need to do something if we are to compete internationally. Locally we can follow our team and motivate them anywhere in the KPL league but in the CAF cup we will definitely need some depth. We need cover for Masika, Jerry and Gattuso. When they are not there the whole team looks disorganised and fans jittery. On the flanks we have seen Kevin Ochieng and Makori playing at those positions. What a waste of striking options. We might lose Ochomo (Ulinzi) and Moses Otieno (Tusker) to name but a few players. What we need to do is to let any player whose heart is no longer in GM to leave and fill those positions. I also hope those who are eager to join GM it’s because they believe in doning the GM shirt and not financial reward (in that case Sofapaka and AFC is there for them). I hate the idea of a player moving from one club to another bargaining for their terms. Get the club you love and bargain with them as much as you like.I don’t believe you can love them all equally since each and every club has it’s own character which attracts a player. Otherwise I believe players like Odera should be modelled and encouraged to give their best. One thing I hate about us fans is booing and catcalling our own players. We did that to Ochola who is now an asset to Sony and wanted by Tusker. We didn’t give Odera an easy time though we realised that he was either being played out of position or being fed poorly by the midfield or a victim of the ways of the old tech bench. We are almost doing the same to Selenge. All this makes a player tense and I can assure you that a tense player cannot deliver. Otherise we appreciate what the EC is doing and encourage them. As fans we will do our best as usual as we await the good news and hope to see some of the new boys on 12th and 17th
Wow! Now the season is over and teams are dispatching players like they never needed them last season. They are also signing new ones as though they started playing last season. These guys who are being mentioned just shone under certain directives and circumstances.
Case in point 1: Odera. Wonders at KCB and not Gor. Maybe it was the coach.
Case in point 2: Torres. Wapi mabao? Maybe it was Benitez.
Case in point 3. A poor midfield brought out the best in Masika. Only Tusker and Ulinzi did better defensively but they had more functional midfields.
If we must sign, then we need to sign partners. If a guy scores headers everyday, we must also consider the guy who delivers the crosses, otherwise we will wonder where he left his head when he joined us.
Please AR and Bwana, look at our boys again. Talent is too much here. Get a good coach and ask for patience from the followers for two seasons to build a proper team. This way the pressure will be off our boys and they can develop into greats. If you promise titles, then even the toughest will discover that this is Gor. The strength of Kogalo is also its weakness. The demanding Green Army.
Kitawi rudi nyumbani.
Yes we should encourage young players, but we also need established veterans in order to perform well in Africa cup. The biggest weakness is goal scoring. It needs to be addressed.

Today’s discussion on this page is very good..i can see we are united as fans on the need for us to have a good team.
welcome Rama to K’ogalo family
listen all. The problem Gor faces today is anciety disorder. When a player scores against Gor, he is scouted for recruitment see Selenga (when AFC beat Gor 1:0) See Kevin Ochieng (when Rangers beat Gor 3:0) See Dennis Wise (when he played well when we played city at the last match to try and win 2010 league 0:0)see alkatel (because he was the youngest promissing player in 2010 he only scored once for Gor in 2011) Ochomo (after Congo beat Gor in Mombasa 1:0)now it is Rama (he scored against Gor from a perfectly taken free kick) This is not the way to pick players. Let us groom our own. We will be branded waster. No good player will want to sign for Gor let us be reasonable. it facinates me that even when we are playing other teams our interest is to look at our weak areas and recruit any player that does better. We should improve our own players. we should be the team loosing players to other teams when we have enough talent – other teams i mean Europe etc
Recruitment of Players is not done by player’s one perfomance but Consistancy in development…So The ongoing transfere window is not the usual one as we’re not just looking at KPL buy Continental football, therefore Mental toughness is what is most on the requirements….Rama is a tough cockie and so is Victor Ochieng…But Striking There’s still A vacuum that should be addressed ASAP and the backline….
Karibu Rama and wish u the very best at our beloved club
FROM WHAT HAPPENED TO ODERA,I TAKE THIS SIGNING WITH CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM.MWAKIO,I AND OTHERS HAVE ALWAYS ADVOCATED FOR THE GAMECHANGER -THE ACADEMY WHICH WE CAN BUILD WITH AS LITTLE AS 15 MILLION.WE CAN THEN SOURCE FOR QUALIFIED EXPATRIATE STAFF-PREFERABLY DUTCH TO TEACH THE LIKES OF PRO,AWILO,THE BASICS OF YOUTH SOCCER DEVELOPMENT.SOBER BLOGGERS SHOULD IGNORE ZD/KOSERO AS WE WERE ONCE ADVISED THAT GROWING OLD IS MANDATORY,BUT GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.LET THOSE WHO DREAM OF A STADIA ENJOY THEIR SIESTA.AN ACADEMY IS JUST LIKE A HIGH SCHOOL OFFERING BOARDING FACILITIES AND SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE MOST TALENTED SOCCER PLAYERS IN THE REGION.WE HAVE INDIVIDUALS RUNNING THESE SCHOOLS E.G JMJ AND FISA AND THEY ARE SLOWLY SMILING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK AS KPL CLUBS CRY FOUL-KISUYAS CASE.THE ISSUE OF AN ACADEMY/YOUTH CENTER SHOULD FORM THE CORE OF NEXT SEASONS CALENDAR.THE STADIUM ISSUE IS JUST BAR TALK-USELESS EUPHORIA COUPLED WITH EMPTY PROPAGANDA.
I think the problem is that we recruit the best players but do not know how to use them. Why was Odera, Wise and Selenge good at their former places? For those who saw Dawo we all know that he was lethal in Gor but didn’t make it in Egypt. Why? Because in GM we had Zamaleck who knew how to feed him with crosses for him to use his aerial prowess. Then there was Jua Kali with his corner-like throw-ins targetted towards him. Recently there was the partnership between Blackberry and Peter Opiyo. At international level we had Ruud Van Nestroy being fed by Beckham and Giggs. So as we recruit we should understand the type of player we are recruiting and who else in the team will partner him for maximum results. Let’s not discourage the likes of Odera, Selenge and Kevin when we are not feeding them as we should or even worse playing them out of position. On the stadium/academy debate. Are we talking of Nyayo, City or world hope class? I guess for now it’s the last one where we can also have some hostels before we go to the City and Nyayo status. With that we can kill two birds have a training ground solely to ourselves and generate some income from the hostels. On the academy we can borrow from FISA where the students come only during the weekend and holidays. All this can be done with proper planning and support. Instead of discouraging the chair let him give us the proposal on how he intends to go about his manifesto (stadium and others) after which we can say whether it’s mission impossible or not. Personally I believe this should be like vision 2030 for GM. Afterall the journey for 1000 miles starts with one step.
onagi om uru kevin kimani paul were to gi rama asto warumo wakao lig next year makata tek ziko to odhi adhiya katuon
Bring Kitawi back
Tranfers saga continues. Gor signs Rama then a few minutes later negotiations are still going on. AFC signs V. Ochieng next minute Ochieng denies signing for AFC. As GM we need to be careful and not hurry to sign as it looks currently players are hawking their services to the highest bidders. What of their conscience? Don’t you need first of all to like a team before you think of joining them? I hope we will sign because the player believes in GM and not for any other reason. Otherwise when things will not be going fine such will be the first players to go AWOL.
It seems everyone is obsessed with young players being recruited in GM and not mature and talented prodigy like Rama. What was the average age of GM team than won continental trophy? The pressure of playing for a team of GM stature is enormous and maturity which comes with age plays a BIG part in the ability of a player to deliver at Gor Mahia.A good player in another team easily fizzles out when subjected to the GM furnace called the green army.thats why a professional coach comes in handy coz they mould a player in all depts.the continental arena needs a player with skills + wang’ teko (ruthless diplomacy),fast thinking and prompt action .otherwise an opponent trained in many aspects of football contest over and above skills will always have an upper hand.a mature, well trained player cannot allow some of the blunders like we witnessed during the AFC mauling.we must blend both the young and mature to have any impact in CAF.Rama is a tactical and timely call up.
I wish to say something again regarding these transfer frenzy or let me call it orgy!
1. Are we recruiting players just because we are in the CAF tournament or we are doing so to build GM?Is that the guarantee to success?
2.Have we really taken stock of the players we have in our Camp to evaluate their talent and commitment?and why is it that our players appear to shine seasonally just before its convenient to sign more?
3.Where did these stars we adore come from?
4. Was it not months ago when we had almost all our young players donning the national colors, what happened and we all know they were straight from school?
5. Its funny the same fans we are… are still the same people calling for more recruitment after witnessing a horrendous season made so through the system of haphazard admissions.
With this massive acquisition and accumulation of talents..who are we prepared to boo next season..i saw guys started with jerzy no 8.. who is the very few players retained by the celebrated Coach Siang’a, who was also described by Bobby Ogolla as a top midfielder..remember we did the same with Ocholla (no 7)..he left for Sony and now pursued by Tursker..at one time we should learn to keep our house and enrich our food than forever salivating for our neighbors food..
That’s my take
i think we should get a coach first, then the coach should proceed onto identify and sign the kind of players he wants to work with. The players he thinks will work well for his (the coach’s)sytem and style of play and his general philosophy.otherwise if we sign players first,no matter how good the chairman, secretary or even the fans think the player(s) is/are.that may not be so to the coach who comes and we may end up offloading the same players come june.
So i think we should get a headcoach first before the transfer closes (and before all the good players have been bought)give him a free hand to sign whoever he wants and whoever he thinks fits in to his sytem of play.lets’ not sign a players simply because rachier, g.bwana, kosero or arrumtiddi wants them in the team!
I disagree with Arrumtiddi @33…..By the time Kogalo get a coach , the transfer season will be over and all the good players will be taken. Gor Mahia cannot afford to wait. Good players like Rama Salim will not wait. By the time a coach is found they will be gone.
The current technical team knows what gaps the team has. They also know what players might be leaving. I heard Masika is on his way out. So Kogalo better be looking for a centre back. We also know that there were many gaps in this team that need to be addressed before CAF cup starts.
In Gor we have so many advisers. No wonder we perform very well. For God and my country Kogallo
4 Gor 2 do well they need 2 balance the team 4 e.g we need agoalkeeper and a striker
