Koops blames Kogalo officials for Masika loss

AFC Leopards Dutch-born tactician Jan Koops, has pointed fingers at Gor Mahia officials who he says are to blame over Eric Masika’s exit.

Koops said that short-term contract proffered to Masika who was an asset to Gor, was the main reason as to why the player’s move materialized.

-Gor officials blundered for not binding him on a long-term contract. Had they given him more years, we couldn’t have trailed him, Koops told futaa.com.

longer-contracts

The Dutch-man who turned fortunes at the club on his inception in the mid-season leading them to 13 matches unbeaten as they finished fifth on the pile, has vowed to challenge AFC management to offer its players longer contract deals to avoid them from falling prey to other clubs.

– Good players need longer contracts; 3-5 years contract deals are safer for the club and the player too. No team will ever approach a player who is on a longer contract with his club. I have already talked with AFC officials over the same, to give players more years to avoid such incidences.

Masika’s contract was due in June 2012 and on learning about his acquisition on Monday 19 December, Koops has promised to commit him on a longer contract for the interest of the club.

– I hope the management will commit him on a longer contract than expected. He’s an asset and for us to hold him, is by offering him more years. I knew he’s coming, I don’t care how much they will pay, and that’s not my business.

– Currently at AFC, most players are on 2-4 years contract deals, and I am optimistic he’ll be a beneficiary too, concluded Koops.

  • Let PPO go in peace. We loved his passion and commitment. Someone wrote that he is a Luhya that’s why he left but when he played for us, he played like the legendary Gor was in him. He must have been a Luo then.

The truth of all this transfer news and shocks is that we cheer these boys and always rush to leave the stadia without caring if they ever eat or how they live. I once wrote that our former coach was walking home and yet he was also coaching Harambee Stars. We may even loose AA very soon. What is his contract? How much is he paid? Do we think the moneybags in this league don’t know him?

The PPO saga is a wake up call and not to Gor only. The league is growing everyday since supersport came and clubs must grow or go down. Transfers will no longer be done without official paperwork and paid player agents very soon. That will make the figures skyrocket. But it will happen.

Bwana and co. Don’t panic or rush. If you have signed some players sawa but take your time and draw a clear route to success for Kogalo with youthful players and appeal for calm and patience from fans. I will repeat for the third time that you need to ask for a whole season to prepare a winning team. Don’t promise titles, just let fans enjoy the game without pressure.

@ creative villager, teams always play to win all matches they encounter and eventually the league.we were entertained in the Peacecup but lost a cool Kes.1 million + a trophy.were you happy at the end of it?the young lads you want in GM must come to fight gallantly and win honourably after 90 mins.entertaining is a football spice we can once in a while do without as long as we win.scoring and winning is evry team’s or coaches objective.BE REAL.

  • Luhya or not he has a bright career ahead and it is so unfortunate that some one is going tribal here -it is strictly business if kogalo want to keep the good players then they must work on paying competitive salaries talk of kshs.45,000.00 going up.
but if you want to pay players peanuts you will be in for a big surprise coz football is now a career/job i.e a livelihood and people will always seek greener pastures!
