Lavatsa joins Algerian club

courtesy of goal.com

Gor Mahia striker Edwin Lavatsa left the country for Algeria on Saturday to join Club de African. The player has been given a lucrative Sh1.9 million per month deal according to his handlers.

The move comes a week after Goal exclusively reported that Lavasta was set to ditch the club after declining to extend his contract. A source close to Lavatsa revealed to Goal then, “He will not be at Gor Mahia this season. He has received a lucrative offer which he cannot decline.”

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia completed their 10 day camp in Loitoktok and will therefore, shift base to the capital from Monday 13. Coach Bobby Wiliamson told Goal that the high altitude training session was expected to build on endurance and work as a bonding session for the champions.

“Pressure is definitely on us when the season officially gets underway. We shall be representing the nation at Caf Champions League and also fighting to defend our title,” said the Scott, who recently penned a three year contract extension at the local giants.

“It has been absolute pleasure working with my players in a serene and quiet environment. The new signings joined thereafter so it was really good working with full house.”

The former Uganda Cranes boss said he was impressed seeing his players undergoing a lot of physical fitness and conditioning. That way he said they will start the 2014 season on a high.

Player Contracts

Once again as was the case with Mosoti, a player has left and Gor Mahia will not receive any compensation. It stems from Gor Mahia’s habit of letting player contracts lapse. This will have to change especially now that Adel Amrouche is acting as national team coach / player agent.

gud lack to the boy Lavatsa, for me I feel he never fulfilled his potential at Gor

  • Mashemeji……..How can a player like Lavatsa walk away for free? You should have extended his contract 6 months ago. Is it true that if your last name does not start with lettet “O” at Gor, then no one really cares about you?

On the central defense perhaps Akumu cn adapt 2 fill the void should it bcom necessary. He has the physique & tactical skills 2 make a skillful CB.

Is gor mahia entitled to some fees, like development fee?
Lavatsa should be careful, Mieno went to some team in tunisia and before we knew, he was back at sofapaka.

I restrict myself 2 these 6 elective positions since I believe the rest of the positions don’t add value 2 the management of club affairs. We nid a full time secretariat 4 day 2 day issues e.g players contract’s management etc etc.
We need 2 make a solid resolve 2 reduce the bloated executive community.
We need 2 explore all options inluding pushing 4 an SGM even moving amendments on the floor.
Resolutions commiting EC 2 provide medical insurance & profiling hooliganism be passed without much ado.

@JAKOYO These are Amrouches deals, and he is not yet done all the gor mahia players that are always regular in Amrouche harambee stars team are in his plan.he want to broke all of them. But it good if the deal can change lavatsas future life, well and good let him proceed on.we have very good players for his replacement,if berry can click well then we don’t have any problem, the guy was also not so good on finishing touches, with obwoge ,ssere, berry ,kiongera, wanyonyi, daddy ,oboya.we are home and dry.@ ingo that is where gor mahia officials have failed most this time round, leaving players to go for free, but you should stop talking about nonsense where is o coming from know.he refused to renew his contract so you expect us to hang ourself because of lavatsa.Remember gor does not base their recruitment of players on ethicity, and that is why gor will always be a head of afc leopards.you value your tribe so much and you have brought it in the club to the extent that you buy very old players (wazee wa njuri ncheke ) ati bora ni miluya.Afc is good in wasting players and that is what you know better so stop yapping here.

All we can do is to wish the player all the best. What he did is what Rooney is doing to ManU now. Refusing to sign an extension. Though we will miss him I believe Kiongera, BB and the rest will easily fill that void. We only pray that the deal doesn’t hit a brick wall and he ends up being locked out of competitive soccer.
On Ingo’s comments they are better off being ignored

This is a good move for Lavatsa,he is one of the key young men who played major role in revival of this team. My pain is that we could not sell such a player due to our crude approach to the matter of player contracting. It is only at Gor that very valuable players have gone for free. This thing is business if they do not know. Ksh 1.9m, if its true then the other players should take cue, be known and where else apart from at Kogalo, if you are not seen here you cannot expect to be seen from elsewhere.

  • All the best Lavatsa. Try and achieve your potential. Make some money in the process.

My wish is that BW being the experienced coach that he is should improve our strikers game to goal ratio. A player like Lavatsa has won many cups in Kogalo but the game to goal ratio is pathetic to say the least. The problem is that he is not alone. We still have highly rated players with very few goals.

Bwana BW, please let us see improvement in this area. How can we continue having strikers who score as few goals as defenders in the same team? How can a national team striker play for 4 seasons and have less than 10 goals? BW, now that you have signed a longer contract, please help our boys grow their potential and join the paid ranks for good.

    Finally, thank you ODUOR 12.

All the best in pursuit of ua dreams Lavatsa. My question to the EC is why have three players left without GK earning anything, are we becoming a red cross club for others? are we developing players for free? or there is some anglo leasing in which only peoples pockets are sweetened and GK’s accounts are not.

Mr Nyamwanda, the lad refused to renew his contract. But they should consider starting negotiations six months to expiry so that the boys don’t hold them at ransom.

All the best for our boy and may the sky be the limit. On the issue of contracts let’s not forget that the player was given an extension which he declined. And that is his constituional right. Even Rooney has refused to sign a contract and might leave for free when the tie comes. The only option is to give the lads long contracts , like 4 years as they do in Europe.
I believe that gap will not be difficult to fill as even Kiongera if he unlishes his potential can be better. And Timmona, if he refuses the urge to join his tribesmen, can outdo Lavatsa. Let’s not forget the CECAFA game when fans started shouting to Amouruche to sub him.
So guys this leaving of players can be a blessing in disguise as it gives us an opportunity to get fresh, ambitious lads, though I still miss Mosoti and Ivo due to their experience but life must go on.
I hear now Ingwe want Timmona to complete the list of best luhyia playing outside Ingwe

Congratulation Lavatsa and if you make it big it will be n inspiration to all. Indeed you chose to play for a club that believes in an individuals ability and not tribal affliation and for that God bless u more in your endeavours. Your contribution is well noted.
Back to what will the impact of his departure well in my opinion very minimal and this is based on the kind of recruitment we have made. B/berry, Kenga and Kiongera is good if not a better cover. Now i know why they had to push for Kenga signature for they knew Lavatsa was on his way out.
I also hear Wanyonyi is being chased by AFC for 800K personally that kind of money could be used to buy a good center back though as someone has said Akumu cld be groomed to take the role of a CB because for sure the midfield is packed and him and Eric will find it tough playing. Akumu has height, skill and he just needs to add mass and he is good to take the CB position and in the process push Owino to the right back which will be good for him especially he plays that position for the national team and he loves moving forward. That is my opinion.

There are rumours that Timona Wanyonyi is being chased by AFC Leopards. His interest is in Ingwe due to foreseen high level of competition in Gor Mahia. Let Gor Mahia accepts Kshs.800K from Ingwe and use this proceeds to reward players.

It is now official that all players from western province are trooping back to their Ingwe den. This is high level of tribalism which should not be encouraged by the football players, officials and lovers. It is immoral for a public listed company like Mumuias Sugar to buy this crude idea.

Any time when AFC is doing well every Luhya wants a share of the cake. Reminds me of Kwendo Opangas assertion in one of his columns_tha Luhyas only unite when Afc is winning. I pray tha the good players are not trouping or being lurex to a house of cards.
