Logarusic aims to make Kogalo best in leg 2

K’Ogalo have not lost a single match in their last five league encounters. They have managed four wins and a draw and Coach Zdravko Logarusic is keen on continuing the trend.

K’Ogalo have started the second leg on a good note, earning three points away from home with a 2-1 win over Western Stima in Mumias.

“In this second leg, my ambition is to make Gor Mahia the best team and collect as many points as possible. Of course we cannot start talking of going for the championship because the gap between us and the top teams is not small,” Logarusic told michezoafrika.com at the team’s training camp on Tuesday morning.

“However, if those teams at the top stutter and give us a chance, why not go for it? Definitely none of the matches we have ahead of us are easy and no team is a walk over. We have to keep working hard to get the best results,” adds the Croatian tactician who holds a UEFA PRO Coaching License.

He has also urged patience from the Gor Mahia fans as he says he is concentrating on building a strong team, something that is not instant coffee and has to take time before the results are visible.

“Right now, we have almost seven new players; that is almost half the team. To get these players to gel in well and to fit into my system will definitely take time. That is why we want to tell our supporters to be patient and give us support,” he says.

“Right now we are working with three models and we are still to find out which model will best suite our mode of play. Maybe there’s one which is almost fitting into place but still we have to look at all situations and come up with the best model. What I am working on now is the players’ off the ball behavior. They are improving bit by bit but there is still more to be done,” he adds.

Logarusic has also pointed out at the team’s defense as another area where he needs to put more work on.

“Our defensive play is not that good and we want to improve on it. Our tactical defensive approach needs some polishing. The strikers are starting to do well because we are scoring goals. If we can get our defense into shape I know we will be good to go,” he concludes.

  • We have a concern with our defenders. I think Musa and Owino can partner very well in the central defence. Anguyo and Mosoti sometimes get mixed up and they have to up their game and player with confidence as most of the time they exhibit lack of confidence.

Well said coach. You had correctly identified the gray areas. Now let’s talk less and that way we’ll catch our opponents off guard.

I always rejoice when a long lost blogger resurfaces. @Motema Pembe we acknowledge your greetings. Welcome brother. Your absence was heavily felt.

Now that efusi are almost failing to sign Ndayi-7 is Ole Magelo going to change his mind again about playing against us? Or was he waiting to acquire Pascal Ochieng’ and Were so as to bolster his squad?

  • It’s good our coaches have identified where the problem is.when i watch GM matches,i alway feel like our central defence of mosoti and anguyo is letting the team down.David owino and musa should be given that position for stability purposes.
Anyway,we hope for the best in second leg, lets deal with the bankers first.

The Musa and Owino partnership has been tried and failed!the Anguyo and Mosoti partnership has been steadier going by our results! We obviously need 1 of the 2 tall defenders in that position to deal with aerial threats posed by teams like tusker and chemilil et al

  • I believe with time Mosoti and Anguyo will can make us the best central defence. All they need is to have confidence and us to encourage them instead of instilling fear in them. By the way when we got our official site gormahiafc.com I thought we would be having first hand info from there. Unfortunately we still get the katest info from other sites. Kweli, the more things change the more they remain the same

It’s true we have a problem with our defense. Coach you have our free hand to look into the issue so that we are good in all departments

  • The coach must stop talking and embark on rebuilding the team. He has already enlisted the players he wanted and hence work must begin. He bought only offensive players while he knew he had gaps to fill in the defence. Bwana coach- Kogalo fans will only support you when you deliver positive results. For the records, I have been impressed by the overall play of the team but the defence needs tweaking and the coach knows what to do. Owino and Musa still remain the most promising partnership in our central defence. Anguyo and Mosoti are similar players as they depend mostly on their height and raw strength. Owino and Musa are cultured players as they can play in variety of positions, their ball handling, reading and distribution is magnificent. I still believe in the two, not as a coach but as a football analyst.

  • I still want to see serunkuma and Rama salim given more space and playing time in the attacking midfield role . Imbem looks more exciting than midenyo or anybody else. I see gor mahia playing more of 4 1 2 2 1 ….ver exciting Omera!
