Mapunda to seek specialist treatment
courtesy of futaa.com
Gor Mahia goalkeeper Ivo Mapunda will see a specialist to determine the extent of his back injury.
The former Tanzania international goalkeeper suffered a back injury during training and will thus miss the club’s weekend trip to Naivasha to face Karuturi Sports.
Mapunda fell awkwardly and has not trained for most of the week.
He will thus head out to see a specialist, today Friday 2 March 2012 to find out the extent of the injury.
Hurts bad
-I fell awkwardly during training and hurt my back. I have not trained since the middle of the week.
-At first I thought it would go away, but now the pain is alot and I feel like I need to see a doctor. The chairman has arranged for me to see a specialist in the afternoon.
-The biggest hope is that I will not be out for very long, Mapunda told Futaa.com.
Mapunda was between the sticks for the club in their last league game, a 0-1 loss to Muhoroni Sugar.
Sorry bro, we wish you quick recovery…we are together in prayers though.

Quick recovery. It seems our players are getting more injured in training than in competitive ones. Someone asked elsewhere whether there is something wrong in our trainings. Are they strenous or long unnecessarily? When one trains for too long or under too much body stress getting injured becomes so easy. As I said let the tech bench not hurry these players back simply to anticipate better results. They may never play again for a long time due to aggravating the injuries.

@Eblazing, the playing/training surface, the footwear, training regime (type technique and duration) and the mental state (psychological state) are some of the factors that are known to cause injury in sports. Thank you
Thank you Jackowil, you have added pertinent aspects I could not recollect.
All the best Ivo M.”the problem is the training ground it resembles what we saw in Thika M stadium.
WHY THIS SELECTIVE REPORTING?
This is a great blow to us. When i attended GM open day at the City Stadium afew weeks ago, everyone was jostling to have Ivo sign autographs and pose for photographs. The lad’s fans are growing by the day. Whilst I do not want to speculate the extend of the injury like comrade O. Trailer, i remain hopeful the boy will join us soon.
For several weeks now, several of our dependable players are nursing injuries. No one including the officials of this club are making any effort to update the fans about their hereos. I cannot independently vouch the fitness of Edwin Lavatsa as reported by Futaa.com. These are some of the issues that must be shared or communicated to the biggest shareholders of the clubs-fans.
Jerrim would undoubtedly be a towering figure between the posts. We are all aware of the wonderful work jerrim did in the last season. Although I personally did not want jerrim to start at the Old Trafford, he must prove he still merit the position.
Finally, during my previous comment elsewhere on this blog, i said the match will be played at Nakuru and that SuperSport9 will beam the game live. I have since learnt the match will be in Naivasha and the game will not be televised. I take full responsibility of the errors.
Once more we have some many changes on the line-up. What is happening?
Indeed the defense is totally changed. Perhaps it is AA’s strategy of not being predictable to opposing teams. Let’s hope it works.
This is a joke! We have lost again to the last minute goal. Leopards have beat Ulinzi 0-2 with Matasi saving two penalties. What is it they are doing that we aint doing? I think AA should go before things get out of hand. Gor is a big club. Chelsea has just its coach cos of non delivery. Playing well and missing chances is no excuse. This coach has no first eleven! Check at Leopards line up. So predictable.
Sorry for some incomplete text. *Leopards have beaten*…
*Chelsea has sacked* its coach..
WE DONT HAVE COACH.CHARMAN LOOK FOR A COACH.
Jackowili, please look at the line-up and you will see a maximum of seven changes from the Muhoroni squad which we were told was unlucky. It is not only the defense. Wycliffe Kasaya, Solomon Nasio, Collins Omondi, David Owino, Musa Mohammed, Peter Juma, Anthony Akumu, Victor Ali,Dan Makori,Hugo Nzoka,Baldwin Ngwa.
I really don’t have a problem with any squad that plays but the Muhoroni game had six changes from the Maputo squad. The Karuturi game had seven changes from the Muhoroni squad. Consistency of midfield and defence is crucial for any serious team.
We have again thrown away 3 points which our key competitors for the title will pick up.
I can only sympathize with mzee when he says he hasn’t seen Gatusso this week. I only wonder what other challenges he could be facing in our team.
Ndugu Creative Village my mouth is stuck!
The entire technical bench should be cleaned i.e awono, jolawi, ole tunda and ken odhiambo. Pro and Awilo should handle the team on temporary basis. Chairman Rachier, new spare anyone. Gor should get a musungu coach from either Germany or England or France. These black local coaches with no historical background are taking us nowhere.
Some misplaced fans have been talking about Zico who is also taking Sony nowhere. I wish to repeat that zico, awono, ken, gideon, abdala, kingi njoroge, are all failed coaches even (AVB) Vila Boas was fired today by Abrahamovich after strings of losses.
THERE WE GO AGAIN,stop these senseless outpouring of anger and emotions.ive just watched OGWANGS MATCH AGAINST ULINZI AND CAN TELL YOU THAT KENYAN SOCCER IS WAY OFF THE MARK.surely their defence was pathetic and they gave away two penalties which ulinzi were lenient enough to throw away.
MY POINT-if we need good results then we either get rid of the bench and the playing unit altogether or go back to what sianga was doing-invest in the youth.
Chelsea has just sacked AVB after sacking ancelotti but they are not ready to accept that its the calibre of players they have-old players ,who are the problem.they went buying foreigners to get instant results instead of grooming their own the barca way.Even ferguson now has to rely on the old war horses-scholes and giggs to get results as they ignored their academies and went for foreigners who are now not delivering.note that scholes and giggs are products of the clubs academy.
SIJUI MTAAMBIWA MARA NGAPI ,TUNAVUNA TULICHO KIPANDA.
WAY FORWARD- I may sound controversial but my opinion is that we should for say 2 seasons relieve pressure on the management and team and let them build a team from scratch i.e the youth.its a fact that since 1987 no kenyan club has done what we did and this is due to lack of proper structures to channel players to the senior team.As the nigerians say,all that anger wont cook yam,we need to channel our energies to building a solid foundation instead of hyping what has not worked for more than 2 decades.
@wuonpap. Good teams grind out results. You say Ingwe was pathetic but they travelled to Nkr and picked out three points. Ulinzi were not generous. They dint take their chances with the two penalties. Leopards took their set pieces. If we wont look at arch rivals and bury our heads in the sand we will never learn. Lets grind results!
EBLAZING,Do you think when you go to the caf champions league you will find teams which will be as wasteful as ulinzi? tusker just found that out today and are now back to hunt for the kpl league.we kenyans are mired in petty rivalry and myopic sideshows oblivious of the fact that no kenyan club has ever reached the group stage of the caf champions league since its inception, while both yanga and simba have played in it.the legend sianga had warned us that we need to rebuild a team but did we heed his call? we now have cases where kenyan players-shikokoti,failing club trials in armenia ?!!! you can talk of grinding results but you are blind to the bigger picture which was also evident when we played togo.
Kenyan players lack basic skills to turn around a match or take it by the scruff of the neck.how many times have you seen our players in very good scoring positions but they end up wasting it.what supersport has done is to raise the profile of our league but the standards and tactics displayed are far below par.
if we want to go anywhere with this team then its tom we give that job to someone capable n give him tym to build a team
