Newly signed Gor Mahia striker George Midenyo is expected to add experience and pace in Gor Mahia’s striking force in the coming season. Midenyo whose exit from Tusker FC was engulfed in controversy decided to end his tenure at Ruaraka by buying out his contract so he can pursue his career in a different club.
Immediately after sealing a deal at Gor Mahia on Thursday afternoon, an excited Midenyo told michezoafrika.com “I have put the rest in the past and am now ready to focus and serve my new club. Gor Mahia is a big club with a respectable legacy and an admirable fan base. Am excited to be part of the movement and I promise to do my best in partnership with my new team mates in order to make a difference.” He said.
Midenyo had initially been linked with a move to AFC Leopards but the controversy surrounding his exit from Tusker slowed down the talks. “I had to take what was in my face.AFC officials were slow and I was not certain of that deal. They kept on pegging my fate to Allan Wanga’s arrival and I was not ready for the wait. I have been welcomed well here at Gor Mahia and am finally settled.”He said.
Midenyo has previously turned out for Mathare United before stints with clubs Raufos, Mjallby and Husquvarna. He came back home last season to help Tusker win their ninth KPL trophy.
Mathare United were also rumored to be chasing for his signature.
From Futaa.com
Immediate former Tusker FC striker George Midenyo has vowed to direct all his efforts in ensuring that Gor Mahia carries the 2012 Kenyan Premier League title.
Speaking to futaa.com after penning down a one year contract with K’ogalo, the lethal forward who top scored for reigning KPL champions Tusker FC last season promised to get his life back on track as soon as possible.
Relieved
-I feel relieved that the fog has passed and I now have another chance to focus on developing my career while in Gor Mahia.
-Playing for Gor which is a big club will give me another chance to market myself giving my best for the time I will be there.
-Gor Mahia has formulated a great squad and I believe we can easily win the KPL come next season, said Midenyo.
The player moved away from Ruaraka after falling out with his employers and is expected to be a worthy addition to the K’ogalo strike force.
mdomo tu !! This guy is 30 years old. why not sign young school boy that have the pace and stamina. mr bwana please dont sign any 30 year old in the team any more.
These school boys that you are advocating for come in Gor to create a career and when they are ripe to deliver they leave…heri the old guards who have a long time committment
@motema pembe please you are wrong and that kind of attitude is not right. Get rid of the negative atmosphere around your comment. Gor to me currently has got it right, the best blend of players comprising of youth and experience.
We need now the full list of players for the coming season, who is in and who is out
@ Motema..You’re a very arrogant person,I wish you only knew what you are talking about…Your school boys Lavatsa for example, have character issues and have not been tested to face the challenges we’re facing so please let the Technical aspect of the club be handled by the Technical Team that went through an interview and convinced an elected office to perfoorm their duties without interferance….Wewe ni kelele….AFC has Baraza and Wanga who are Older…Let you not be Defied by Daily papers that He’s under 30,,The lad is well over 30yrs ata Oliech ni 30 sasa wewe ni Technical gani unasema…Modomo mingi Technical ndago
You guys are wrong. Gor plays well when they have young talents. Gor is not AfC, Gor is a brand in it self. we need to bring in unknown young talent not some 30 years old. !!!! Gor Damu
Motema Pembe, 30 years is what you are worried about? 30 years only?
Wycliffe Ochomo is under 20 but how many goals did he score for us? How well did he play? Lavatsa is very youthful but does he score every day?
Goerge blackberry is a good example.
@ #7. There is now way Ochomo is under 20. That guy is at least 23. hebu look at him
ochomo is not Gor Mahia player any more.
motema pembe is not in our family of K’ogalo plz angalia Ingwe ya kwenu
@Motema, pliz let bwana do his job in peace any player he will sign has our full surpport! We cant excel with boys only thats why manutd has bn excelling in epl!
Joe Riaga, now you and I know that looks deceive!
At 35 Beckam was still wanted by PSG. At 42 Roger Milla scored at the world cup. At over 35 Drogba is still terrorising younger defnders like Smalling. The task we have ahad demands that we blend both young and old talent. We have enough young talent Odera, Macheda, Kitawi, Moses etc now they could learn from the old experienced talent as well. A team like TP Mazembe goes for tested players and that’s how they are performing the way they are. Let’s do what we are best at , supporting the team. If the so-called old players don’t perform I can assure you that the bench is where they will be and the same for the young players. At over 30 isn’t Mike Baraza still an envy and threat for any team in the premier?
I forgot Lavatsa as one of the promising young stars. Are we still after Victor Ali? I really believe he can help us there, though we now have Rama. Remember last year whenever Gatusso was unavailable there was always a big gap. I also hope Vierra will up his game and be played in the midfield where he belongs and not the defence.
Jon please update me: who is “Vierra”? I thought we have already bagged Victor Ali?
WEE ULIKUJA KO’GALLO JUZI AMA WEWE NI SHEMEJI? ANYWAY FYI VIERA NI TEDDY AKUMUUUU!! SAWA SO KUJA STADI WACHA SOFA SET BRANCH
What is wrong with seeking information? Not every blogger here hails from Nairobi. Please Sir Jerry you could do with some courtesy.
I believe Jon could have provided a more urbane answer.
Yah we have done the sighnings and they are over so we now need a very good friendly to test the new players and see how comited they are
I hope that some of our players reading these stories know that some bloggers here are our opponents hence the need to ignore their dirty and inciting comments. All our new signings are very much appreciated and welcome to the green army.DON’T believe anything else.To Midenyo, you’ve got talent and 2012 you can prove yourself and make a breakthrough to Europe.Gor has put the ball into your court.
