Midenyo warns Tusker

From standardmedia.co.ke

Gor Mahia striker George Midenyo has declared that scoring is his business and will not give his former club Tusker any favours.

The brewers clash with Gor in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) curtain raiser, the DSTV Super Cup on Sunday.

The match normally brings together league champions against the Cup holders. Tusker are the league champions, while Gor are the Cup holders.

Midenyo left the club in acrimonious circumstances, after allegedly falling out with them, but he insists that he has nothing personal against his former team.

“Tusker is a good team and we expect a tough match, but we will play our hearts out because a trophy at the beginning of the season is a great thing for any team as it will boost the morale of players,” Midenyo said.

He added: “I have nothing against Tusker, but I will just be doing my job and if I score I will be very happy because that is every striker’s wish.”

Midenyo who was at one moment the leading scorer last season before he suffered an ankle injury that put him out of action for a long spell, said, “the only point I have to prove is for Gor Mahia fans and not Tusker.”

“The current champions should, however, think of settling our dues because all of the players they released are yet to get their share of the Sh3 million for winning the local title,” said Midenyo who had stints with Norway and Swedish clubs before returning to the KPL.

KPL Chief Executive Officer Jack Oguda said the match will be aired live on Supersport channel 9 from 3pm on Sunday and tickets go on sale tomorrow at selected outlets.

Tickets for the VIP stand will cost Sh400, while terraces will cost Sh100 and the outlets where they can be purchased are the Nyayo National Stadium Ticketing booth, 20th Century Cinema, City Stadium, Mumbai Plaza Gikomba, Fine Breeze Grill Dagoretti and Kenya Cinema.

I hope Kogalo will do us proud this Sunday not like in the last two matches. Though I understand the team had not bonded, I know Kogalo has some of the best players in Kenya. I am very proud of Gatuso, Ali Abondo, Moses Odhiambo and Yusuf Juma, these are just but afe of the good players we have. Midenyo we are yet to see what you are capable in our team. We want Midenyo of Season 2011 please. I hope y0u will prove me wrong on sunday. anyway I wish Kogalo all the best. trust me if you beat Tusker on Sunday every team will be threatened and this will give us some power and pride to play this season without any problem.

@jahkoremo no4,i agree with you, that with the current scorching sun in nairobi, having a match at 3 really takes a toll on players and fans especially those on the eastern stands (russia). But given that the organisers/sponsors ie kpl/supersport find 3pm more convenient for them maybe coz of tv rights etc,we’ll just have to ‘vumilia’.Anyway we miss our traditional 4pm kick off.
Just as a remainder, bloggers branch meeting, has been convened by our chairman vincent ocampo,on sunday 5th february,at samba restaurant along moi avenue next to florida 2000, starting 11am.Anybody interested in joining Gor Mahia Bloggers Branch is most welcome.

  • We have the best team in the KPL. My team would be. 1Jerim defence. Peter Juma, Nasio, D. Owino. Musa Mohammed. Midfield. Collins Okoth, Moses Otieno, Rama, Makori, attack B. Ngwa, Lavatsa. I will have on the bench. Kassaya, D. Mosoti, Kevin Omondi, Ivan Anguyo, Kevin Ochieng, M.Odhiambo, G. Midenyo. I believe that this team can team tear any opponent to shreds. Coach Awono pls try this line-up. Thank you.

I think the match has to be played at 3 because of AFCON quaters and other tv rights

I watched Midenyo playing against the El Mereik last Sunday when he came in as a substitute and his performance was just average.

Coach Awono also looks like he has not settled on the best options in terms of playing patterns and players combination with an aim of getting a winning formulation.

    I suggest that this match should provide him with depth and knowledge of providing the preferred first eleven for GM. And below is my presumed first eleven with the best options for substitutions;

    1. GOAL KEEPERS: Mapunda , Jerry
    2. RIGHT BACK; Nasio, Kevin Ochieng
    3. Left back; Yusuf, Collie
    4. STOPPER; Musa, Mosoti
    5. SWEEPER; Owino, Anguyo
    6. LINK MAN; M. otieno, Teddy Akumu
    7. RIGHT WING: Kevin Omondi, Ali Obondo
    8. CREATIVE MID-FIELD Gattusso, Peter Juma
    9. STRIKER; B. Ngwa, Lavatsa
    10. LINK STRIKER Kiplagat, Baloteli
    11. LEFT WINGER R. Salim, Kitawi

NB: THIS IS BLENDED MIXTURE OF EXPERIENCED AND YOUTHFUL PLAYERS

Coach Awono and your able assistant Ken i once and for the last time beg you to provide us with the probable first eleven of the season out of this lot. Your honey mood is over and its either you show case your technical ability and understanding of the game or else / otherwise we are bound to question your competence from the start.

THAT IS WHAT IS MEANT BY COACHING K’OGALO EVER SINCE.

    Over to you bloggers!

LET THE TECHNICAL BENCH DO THEIR NEEDFUL JOB.

Gor mahia has registered 33 players this season and they are all up to the task; so i beg you guys to let the coach do his job and we shall judge the performance after 90 minutes of play.

K’galo has over 35000 supporters so if everyone comes up with his preferred line up then it translate to to 35000 different line ups per game.

Let resign to play our role as fans . PERIOD!

@ #11 Okoth. Opinions are free on the internet. The coach does not have to listen to bloggers. But bloggers are free to express their opinions.

@#9 Ogango: I am shocked your line up does not have Lucky Dube. Currently the best player in the team.

And how come we havent seen Hugo “Sanchez” ?

@ 12 Joe Riaga most obliged with the erratic omission of our current wonder-boy “ODHISI-ODHISI” aka “LUCKY DUBE”.

Take it from me that he perfectly fits where either KIPLAGAT, KEVE-OMONDI ,BALOTELI or ALI OBNDO have been slotted. He automatically has the right combination with the likes of RAMA,KITAWI,GATUSSO,NGWA amongst many otrhers.

    NB;

    GOOD OBSERVATION @ Joe Riaga

BE PATIENT AND LET THE BENCH CARRY THEIR OWN CROSS!

WE AS FANS WE LACK THE REQUIRED CRITERIA TO INDULGE INTO THE TECHNICAL BENCH JOB DESCRIPTION

@ 12 Joe Riaga i have no reservations with bloggers suggesting their preferred first, second and third eleven for that matter but what i simply meant was that we as fans we are not in NAIVASHA at the moment to gauge individual players performance and response to the training programs.

I simply meant that you can not determine first 11 squads out of the blues without thorough assessment on the training ground as regards players fitness and state of mind.

    NB:

If OGANGO has confessed on omitting LUCKY DUBE, some will ask where is SELENGA, HUGO ,MAKORI , MACHEDA, KISAYA,WEKESA and so on….. and the list is endless.

That is why @ Kosero lamented that we over recruited to the exrent that some careers are bound to be wasted?

JOKES ASIDE LET PLAY US OUR ROLE PROFFESSIONALLY.
    PERIOD!

If Rama and Lucky Dube can be omitted in any first eleven then standards must be very high this time round!

Nabi Hono please note that one Len Julians coached GM once upon a time and he made it his business to register 4-0 and 4-1 wins in league matches almost throughout the entire season. You have made a more mouth-watering recruitment, but it will only pay dividends if you make good fielding.
