Simba eyeing Bobby, Bwana refutes report

According to goal.com Simba officials are already in Kenya seeking to open talks with the Scottish tactician, who joined K’Ogalo in June

Bobby Williamson might be headed to the Tanzanian Vodacom Premier League if reports from Tanzania are anything to go by.

According to Mwanaspoti, a leading Tanzania sports newspaper and website, Williamson is being sought after by multiple Tanzanian champions SImba SC. The Newspaper reports that Simba’s leadership is already in town seeking to open talks with the Scottish tactician.

Williamson joined Gor in June on a one year contract after Zdravko Logarusic left and his contract is set to expire on the first week of June. With the financial muscle SImba has they might as well buy out his contract from Gor Mahia as they seek to have him in the team from January when their second leg starts.

Mwanaspoti reports that the Simba leadership has not been pleased with the team’s performance this year especially now that they sit 4th on the table. Current coach Abdallah Kibaden is said to have lost control of the discipline of his players while at the same time, their level of play has drastically gone down.

Maofisa wa ngazi ya juu wa Simba wameanza mazungumzo na kocha Bobby Williamson wa Gor Mahia ya Kenya ili achukue mikoba ya Abdalla Kibadeni,” reads the Tanzanian newspaper.

Kibaden replaced French man Patrick Liewig after the latter failed to knit in results, Simba losing their Tanzanian title to rivals Yanga SC.

Bwana Refutes Report

A report from michezoafrika suggests that George Bwana has indicated that Bobby Williamson is at Kogalo to stay. “He (Williamson) is an open and level minded coach whom we want to keep. We contracted him for a year which we are keen on extending for another one season. It’s the dream of every club to retain its best coach” says Bwana to michezoafrika

“He is very open. He recently got a call from Tanzania, but asked the caller to contact us, but he never did. What you are reading (in the media) are just rumours” he added

Gor  Mahia will be keen to hold onto Williamson who has proven a good tactician as they pursue the African and regional club competitions next year.

GB contract is a mere piece of paper with an exit clause despite binding two parties. Simba are moneybags with dip pockets and be rest assured that they will buy out the remaining period for Bobby Williamson contractual agreement. They will definitely offer him a 300% salary increase compared to his current renumeration on top of other benefits.

Please EC ” lisemwalo lipo na Kama halipo itarajie karibuni”. Start sourcing for a coach the soonest possible before we are exposed. The coach profile after he won the TPL 2013, league with K’Ogalo will automatically demand for salary review and if it doesn’t then be ready to accept competition.Yanga, Simba and Azam are capable of getting him when it comes to choosing between a lucrative contract or just a mere piece of paper.

I tend to disagree that Coach BW will simply bow down to the allure of money and pack his bags to join one of the Tanzanian clubs. BW cuts the figure of a stable man content with what he has but eager to build on it. He lived and worked in Uganda for close to 6 years! Kampala is hardly a place one would love to live in for that long unless u love what u do there. And don’t tell me no one approached him, what with all that success he brought to that country’s national team. Gor is a bigger brand than Simba or Azam et al, despite our lack of success over the last 18 years. BW will want to take this club to where it belongs and I believe he stands a better chance to concur Africa again with Gor. Of course there’s a lot of work to do. He has said that he wants to strengthen the squad. We can’t wait to see him make the requisite signings, remember he worked with a squad he inherited, he will want to make key signings having spent the last 6 months to identify the weaknesses in the squad.

It will be sad if Bobby W leaves but then that decision will be his. All contracts have exit clauses which he can use and lets not blame anybody for that, these things happen the world over; you accept and move on. Still we can send sincere pleas to Bobby W; you have just started on a grand mission, the revival of one of the greatest clubs in this part of Africa, kindly stay on and see it through the continentals. We haven’t seen you yet coz you worked with someone else’s set up and which can be said to have been set to win the title anyway, though that is also debatable. I would suggest the next two seasons. That I again leave to the EC or whoever will be elected to that office.

As for hooligans, you better grow up. There is too much childishness among the current day so cold supporters as opposed to past years where people would celebrate responsibly. Who will address this bad disease, the police have completely failed here.

Brand Gor Mahia is worth hundreds of millions of Kenya Shillings in gate collections, forget about sponsorships. We are one of the most supported clubs in Africa with the passionometer tipping the scales above any other club on the continent. We need to turn this in our favour by simply getting rid of the hooligans. These hooligans are not Gor supporters, whichever way you look at it. After all, what sort of excitement can lead you to destroy other people’s property even when you have won a match? In the 80s when my mother and I could only listen to Gor on Radio, we used to hear of packed stadia, yes Kasarani used to be filled to capacity by Gor fans, especially during continental matches. In present terms, even if you took a conservative figure of 40,000 fans in that stadium, or 30,000 fans in Nyayo, you would be talking of not less than Kes 9million in gate collections in a home game at an average cost of Kes 300 per ticket. But then again, we are in a era when we are fortunate to have a sponsor, so the potential financial power base of Gor Mahia is infinite! Added to the prestige of being the most successful club in East Africa, we can attract some of the best talent around! But 1st things 1st, GET RID OF THE HOOLIGANS AND BRING BACK ALL THE TRUE FANS TO THE STADIUM! It’s interesting to see how KPL, FKL and GOR Mahia Leadership will deal with this in the coming months and into next season.
Our destiny is in our hands, let’s take it!

I believe B.W. is a gentleman and when he leaves Gor it will be on mutual understanding. And that’s how civilised societies work. We can now see Mourinho back at Chelsea due to a civilised way of handling issues. I believe we will have BW in our camp next year though this to a large extent depends on how we carry out our club elections. The turnover of coaches in Yanga and Simba is too high that i’m sure B.W. would not like to be subjected to perpetual uncertainty.
Another gentleman is Danny. I hear he has opened talks with Gor on contract extension. That’s good for both parties so that when he leaves after assisting us to retain our cups he will have gotten a far-much better deal and GM will also have benefitted. I think at the end of next year Danny should go and make the most out of his talent in Europe.
On GOONS in gor jerseys or the puported fans it’s too much damage they are doing to the brand. As a brand gor is one of the leading commercially-viable products. For those who know, the amount of publicity (both negative and positive) we get runs into millions of shillings so let’s concentrate on the positives and sponsors will be lining to even advertise their products on the shirt sleeves or shorts.
On recruitment let’s leave that to the TB though that does not stop us from proposing the players we would like to see donning the green and white colours of Gor. Personally I would like to see Situma, Omino(Chemelil) and Eugene Asike complementing our defense. At the middle I would like to see King’atua and Kahata (Onyango of City is good but has been snapped by Ulinzi). Meno would also be a good addition to this list as well as Chrispin Oduor of Muhoroni. At the front we can add Jacob Keli, Jesse Were, Paul Were, Okoth of Bandari and Wendo and Ouma of Mathare. Looks like the league has a shortage of strikers. Though we have enough keepers if there was room for anther one I would still go for , of all keepers , Kasaya (bad feelings aside he is a good keeper)

  • Bobby will be with us next season.

As for the hooliganism, i tend to think it’s a national problem in the kind of citizens we currently have. Those talking of past years should realize that there is a terrible generation that is currently running the show.

Just look at Umoinner matatus. How are they driven? Wrong side. Look at post election. What year? 2008. Look at Parliament and Senate. What character? People are shameless. What of KDF Westgate behavior? Could General Mulinge have accepted it? What kind of cases do our leaders have?

Kogalo is just caught in this lawlessness that is all over the country and can only try to educate its supporters. Ethics has been thrown out of the window by the younger members of our society.

I propose that the club spends money on proper campaigns against hooliganism. If we can spend on limos and other matters, why not on our biggest problem? We are going to see more problems as the club grows. There must be a way to encourage those who can’t pay gate fee to watch on TV. Raise ticket prices to a minimum of 1,000 and take all games to Nyayo stadium. The best medicine, if all options fail is to ban fans in all Kogalo games until the message sinks.

Even if we raise gate charges to 1 million bob,the hooligans will still camp outside the stadium and cause unrest…the same goes with banning fans from watching the matches.

I tend to agree with what Fred Odhiambo said in the previous article.Horses and dogs and well equipped law enforcers will go a long way in quelling fans from invading the pitch and also arrest hooligans.

But what i think we need most is arresting some of these hooligans and charging them…jail sentence and stadium ban would act as a deterrent measure.

Why are we dilly dallying on this issue when we have the mechanism and resources to deal with it once and for all!!???

  • If indeed Simba are thinking of B.Williamson, that really sends some chill down the spine. At the same time I think that it would be a very selfish move by Simba. I agree it is a world of competition but are they thinking of approaching him because Gor took the cup or because he is a good coach. I think that it is because of former. Since they league standing is not good they are looking for a quick fix which is very risk even on the coach who may come in. When Bobby was let go by Uganda Cranes, did Simba tender in their request? And if they did was Gor’s terms better. Ah ndugu zangu wanasimba mbona msiende msituni kutafuta kama ninyi ni simba kweli? Mbona mwangoja kwenye hori? Mapunda waambiye.

The Villager, precisely this is the problem, a societal problem. Still let us try to what is possible by persistent campaigns against hooliganism. You never know it might just yield one day. Look at Efusi supporter in Mombasa over the weekend, its all sickening.

A question to Dan Original, you always make good and sensible contributions. By naming names as you have done above are you saying that the winning team be overhauled? I think its better we leave some of these things to the TB and if any player were to be approached or just proposed lets not be public about it at this stage, hush, hush is the way to do it.

@Jathur gi ji, What I really meant is to beef up our team with ‘some’ of these players. Next year is going to be tough for us. We will have the CAF champions league,TPF league, CECAFA , Top 8, GoTV shield amongst others. This calls for depth in the team else we will be victims of our own success. As it is the current team is good but I feel we are thin and hence the need to beef up and we don’t have to restrict ourselves locally. we can go outside the country

Hooliganism in Gor is easy to root out. Most matchez r televised and most hv their nicknames n faces all over. Catch them prosecute and fine and jail them for public disturbance and destruction of property. Where were they when Gor was languishing in the doldrums. Dont pretend to love Gor and just the basic history of Gor hujui. Remember kwa continental you reckon with CAF and FIFA na hapo ndiyo maji itazidi unga. Football is for entertainment not physical altercations. Lets style up, love and be responsible for nurturing our team. Long live kogallo.

  • Jathur gi ji I dont undrestand u. These players u’ve counted were there in this season and they never helped their teams to win even 1 silverware & now u want Bobby to drop players who won the league 4r us.The only player whom I think is mature to join Gor is Clifton Alwanga & if I was the head coach I will initiate talks with him immediately. But Kasaya has always taken teams to relegation. He started with Red Beret,Bandari. He almost did it with Gor & now Sony is heading there.

Aha ha haa ati he started with berets and and..hmm, even i dont think these average players are better than the ones we have the so and sos are just like the kiongeras we got from kcb who also need to re-pick up momentum again, at this point the tech bench would rather initiate a comrehensive scouting for young players and build a team than hire wannabe stars and fire them mid season. To me a quarter final finish @ the cecafa and/or some three level finish @caf is not a bad performance. Remember africa conquering GM of the 80s was built overtime with serious scouting of young players from schools who understood the team culture and systems. I’m against wanton recruits, it only wrecks the team.

Hooligans? Yes, hooligans. Those are the children whose parents: read ‘some of us and our neighbours” probably failed to raise and so got bred in our society as aptly alluded to by The Villager.
The problem will be very difficult to solve: yes, arrest and prosecute ruthlessly providing an example and deterrence. But do you and I have control or power to arrest and prosecute? NO. And those whose duty it is to do so are not about to lift a finger either. It has been left and let to play out whichever way it does. Our hooligans are just a manifestation of a crumbling system. I’m talking Kenya is unraveling because of our past “sins” of commissions and omissions. We were told, and believed thing would work out, etc. We believed and joined the bandwagon, and here we are. And as we vent on these pages, the hooligans, thugs, kidnappers, matatu crews, name them, continue to run roughshod over all. No one is safe, and believe me it will get worse as time goes on unless and until you and I decide to engage in our communities to change the tide – and I don’t mean on social media – real and true engagement. At 50 yrs this is the foremost issue we should figure out as a nation, the rest is secondary. If we fail to, lets keep living and bear the brunt. . . or build our gated communities and be they self sufficient communities at that. No, we MUST ALL engage in our communities.

Me too, I am against wanton recruitment.

On hooliganism, I think we are being very kind to them by referring to them as hooligans. I submit that they are savages and one very creative blogger has invented the silver bullet that will put a stop to the savagery. Gor Mahia only need to spend more money in hiring the police dogs then we see if they will bribe their way past the dogs and invade the pitch.

These savages have been caught in the act in camera on many occasions. Why not post those images on billboards along highways and city streets each with a caption: ‘THIS IS SAVAGERY, THIS IS HOOLIGANISM’? Why not splash those images in the electronic and print media? Let us expose these savages through their shameful and barbaric acts. Take the billboards to the villages. Broadcast the images in Citizen and KBC TV for the villages to see what their sons and daughters do away from village scrutiny. Some of these savages are college students. Expose them to their lecturers and mentors. K’Ogallo just expose the savages. Now that arresting them and prosecuting them has proved impractical, why not try a dog bite because most certainly a police dog bite is very practical.

  • i agree with several people here :we need to hike entry fees as a deterrent ,we need to bolster the defense,it needs more work but the goal keeping department is ok we also need an all out striker to work with Danny, Rama went and there is a gap somewhere.i have to comment about Kasaya,we dont need him as Kogalo,he is not disciplined i think he never cried enough as a child he cant play for Kogalo. As for Bobby ,i wish he could stay and yes Simba is big but Gormahia is huge ranked by CAF at no.40 the highest ranked in East Africa….Haloo…for those who dont believe go to CAF website and see for your self.Hooligans….should go to prison… they water down everything done by the fans its horrible guys.

  • Gor Mahia is a great club but hooligans has forced some old fans to stay away.Since 1970 i have been a fan of the great club Gor mahia when players like Ndula jagem from Bata Limuru, Okeyo,Obure, Olando Lolwe etcwe used to enjoy going to Tok komwanda to watch our great brothers entertaining us but nowadays i still like going to the stadium but those young pretending to be fans are chasing us out of the stadium. I think if we can raise the entry to shs.1000/=and 500/= those pretenders won’t come. Just imagine I can’t go with may aged wife or underage grands. Secondly we should pay direct to the bank and carry only the bank slip. For the players recruitment we should leave to TB alone.
