Sports Kenya reverses course but blames Gor Mahia
Sports Kenya director Pius Metto has now announced that Kasarani will indeed be available for the CAF Confederations match against RS Berkane of Morocco. In a letter to all parties, he stated that the Kenya Association Manufacturers had booked the venue for their Expo event in February.
Metto blamed Gor Mahia for not being proactive enough.
“It should be noted that Gor Mahia properly by even making a tentative booking” said Metto’s letter.
Given that Gor Mahia learned the dates of the match last week, it is not clear how proactive the club could have been

In his letter to the club, Metto emphasized that Gor Mahia must ensure adequate security.

It’s OK but I think the club are suppose to have a feeling of the pitch a day prior to the D day, Caf requirement
Sports Kenya’s blame of Gor Mahia is for saving face. Just as J’Asego had indicated, I think phone calls were made at very high levels. Sports Kenya needs to know that in football it is unwise to count your chicks before they hatch: Gor Mahia played the last group stage game on 17th March hi. How could they have booked the venue before 6th February or before “sometime last year” for use on 7th April?
I assured you that Sports Kenya and one Pius Meto is not someone who can cause Jasego an iota of panic. By 3pm i was sitting with cabinet secretary Amina Mohamed in which the earlier decision was reversed and phone calls directing Meto to retract his Nonsense KAM hullabaloo made…We have No time for shenanighans
I think all 5hese happenings should prompt us to do something about having our own stadium. Teams like Al Hilal of Sudan have their own, or so i suppose. A new club like Vipers of UG have one of their own. A 25,000 seater is enough for us. I am sure Spprts Kenya will be harshon us going forward since we have “messed’ up their chest-thumping and bravado ways of doing things
In our current state of affairs it’s impossible to realise some of the things we aspire to achieve.
The club needs to put in proper structures to effectively compete with other big guns in the continent.
Footballwise we are not doing too badly at the moment, but otherwise,we are in a terrible state and it needs to be fixed asap!
What i know is no club choose the date for the match….
t By insinuating that there was a false report going round in the media and that Gor Mahia failed to properly plan for the match by not even making a tentative date, is hypocrisy of the highest order. For me I think it is them who should always include a clause whenever they are engaging is such activities, that give sports a priority and not the other way round. Secondly, how is Gor supposed to know when Continental matches are going to be played. The catch is, supposing Gor plans and blocks lets say some tentative block of time and lets assume that those dates do not rime continental dates, the next thing they are going to do is ask for is compensation with very hefty fines. In all these Sports Kenya is simply trying to justify themselves. I would encourage them to always invoke the clauses whenever they are being involved in business. The last paragraph of the second letter actually says it all. The real author of the letter has more of a personal vendetta with Gor. That letter is more of a warning letter than use of the Stadia. Any body who sees that letter will immediately see a Club of trouble. The sports Kenya in my opinion, Should have looked for somewhere else but not Kasarani. What are some of the equipment they will be rolling out there? What safety measure have they taken that no damage will be caused?,,,, Any way Gor Will continue to do their thing. ………
