Use of CCTV cameras, a step in the right direction

The mashemeji derby on Sunday marked the first time that CCTV cameras were used to enhance security at the stadium. Hosts Gor Mahia  hired Logix Technical Solutions (LTS) for the job at a cost of Sh180,000.

The KPL Head of Technical Services, Safety and Security GMT Ottieno, said that the use of the cameras was a significant step that needs to be embraced by other clubs.

LTS Managing Director Sam Oguko said that the  challenges faced on the pilot programme included  late  arrival of police officers  to duty which he said interfered with the control of the crowd.

“Initially our plan was to have the fans frisked from parameter gate. By so doing it becomes easy, but in a situation where law enforcers came late, everything became difficult because we too are in grave danger as the fans can easily destroy the cameras,” he said to the Nation.

The use of CCTV cameras will help weed out hooligans who have contributed negatively to the financial fortunes of the club.

Aduda criticises SSMB

Chief Executive Omondi Aduda criticised the Sports Stadia Management Board (SSMB) for not doing enough to secure their premises.

“When we hire your venues, we pay a fee. Apart from that, you take twenty per cent of gate collections, yet you expect clubs who are your clients to do everything pertaining security- failure to which you slap them with heavy fines and bans,” he said.

“You should ask yourself; what is it you have done to lure your clients and make them comfortable?” said Aduda to the Nation

I actually support the sentiments from the gor official. Ideally SSMB should be the one to provide security for their premises if they take 20% of the gate collection plus 60K for hiring the premises. Why should a team like gor provide CCTV to guard SSMB premises. This means that from the #M we would literally carry home something like 1.5M. So shamefull. I hope the Kisumu and City stadium are completed so that the teams can run away from this milking by SSMB.

Now that Ingwe has beaten us to sign Mieno who is the next next available option? The Chair tried his best but 5m is too much for a local player within our league. The second leg is going to be tough but all we need is to keep our heads afloat and we win by crossing the tape earlier than the rest.
Asfans we can make this possible by motivating the players so that they can give 110% instead of jumping at every opportunity to negatively criticize.

  • Blind/misguided optimism will take us nowhere.
If,as alledged, EC has not cleared pending salaries & allowances of the current squad then it simply means GM has no money 2 sign any established names of the likes of Mieno.
Also expensive signings will be imprudent & may create disharmony in the playing unit as we saw recently.
Unless fans/member are being taken 4 a ride its time 2 accept that presently @ GM PESA ONGE!
Problem is hakuna kitu mtado since fans r powerless against EC or are they?

  • Aduda, stop making unnecessary noise. Tell us if players have been paid and what are you doing as the person incharge of business in Gor. Whats your work Aduda? Do you have money now that teams are beefing up during this transfer time?
    Kindly make a statement.

Breaking News: Rama and Kevo leave for SA after the KRA match. Too bad for the club but good for the players career-wise. Let them make hay while the sun shines and i believe that there are still good players out there ready to play for Gor. Can we go for Arita since he is a free agent and we don’t have the money?

This inept EC will take us nowhere that‘s the bitter truth. No updates on KRA issue and amount raised through Mpesa ,Our able players likes of Akumu, Rama and Daddy are leaving with no indication of their replacement courtesy of Goal.com. we nurture players and release them for free which is so unfortunate unlike Sofapaka who have managed to raise 5M from one player .
EC pull up your socks coz honestly you are an embarrasement to Gor fraternity .
