Walusimbi: KPL is better than Ugandan league

Uganda Cranes left back Godfrey Walusimbi has stated that the Kenya Premier League is much more competitive and better organized the top flight division in Uganda.
The Gor Mahia FC defender who joined the club in January has put up gallant performances for the club and is amongst the most loved players at the club.
“The joy of playing in the Kenyan league is guided by the fact that it’s competitive,” Walusimbi told NairobiNews in an exclusive interview.
“It’s much organized and matches are beamed live on Supersport, which also increases a player’s value,” he added.
The ex-SC Villa star further added that there is all to play for Kenya unlike in Uganda likening the Ugandan league to village football.
“In Uganda there is not much to play for. As a player, you are not only looking forward to match day but also aiming to move to the highest level, something I could not realize in Ugandan league. The league competition back home is like a village football,” said Walusimbi.
Walusimbi also added that it was easier for him to settle at K’Ogalo since there is former Cranes coach Bobby Williamson.
“He (Williamson) has coached me; I know what he expects of every player. I know his style of play like the back of my hands, which has made my settling in the team very easy.”
The lanky left back also dreams of playing in Europe and promises to offer as much as he can so that he can his move.
Nevertheless, his focus at the moment is helping Gor Mahia win more trophies with the league title which they are keen on defending first on his priorities.
“All I want is to give my best and go as far as possible. I dream of playing in Europe but in the meantime my biggest aim is to help Gor Mahia win medals, more so the league title,” he said.
great comment by Kogalo real warrior Walu Walu, together we will go far
Well said Walusimbi. Your performance has been extremely impressive. My only worry is that opponents’ wingers are likely to predict your overlapping tactics and hit us badly on a counter attack. We need some able player to provide cover when you overlap.Remember Bandari match in Mombasa and the resultant second goal?and also how Jesse Were(Tusker) terrorised us?
I doubted this guy when I heard of some big money he was paid as sign on fee but he has confirmed not only to me but to all K’ogalo followers that he’s a real deal.
Cool and a great one Walusimbi. We are together in prayers so that your dreams both at K’Ogallo and possibility of playing in Europe may come true. Tia bidii pal.
So far i am impressed with the work rate of the UG team members. If only all our local players would put in something close to this we would now not be lamenting on some dropped points. I am still optimistic that we will make it. We are currently agitated because we see the potential in the squad and it only needs to be harnessd in the right direction. With three quarters of the matches played we are yet to hit our optimum performance, something we usually do at the end of the first leg and carry on in the second leg.
All the same we acknowledge that the league is gonna be tougher than before but that’s when real champs come out to be counted
Dan for once I want to correct you, there are no “UG and our local players”; For me we only have “Kogalo team players” and all are committed to the team, some doing better than others and that is normal.
jathur gi ji wht do u mean ?whn sm players r nt doing wl in a tm is normal
Ati there are no UG players in the team? Before Mapunda left we were even saying that the team is truly East African. We even wanted Sudanese and Gabonese nationals to join the team.
Anyway as of now they are all Kogalo players irrespective of race, colour or religion
You are a good player Walu Walu, just stay focused and you will go far. Thanks for the enlightenment regarding the Ugandan league. At least I can be proud of the kpl.
Kenya Premier League is the best League in East African Community. Hands Down!
