Gor Mahia have appointed former Uganda Cranes tactician Bobby Williamson on a two year contract.
Club chairman Ambrose Rachiel on Friday exclusively revealed to Goal that the Scot has signed a two year renewable deal and will arrive in Kenya on Tuesday for unveiling.
Williamson will replace Croat Zdravko Logarusic, who was sacked by the club’s top management for allegedly absconding duty.
“We have appointed Williamson as the next Gor Mahia coach on a two year contract. Bobby has a good experience working in Africa having handled Uganda Cranes for then last five years.
“We expect the coach to arrive in Nairobi on Tuesday and thereafter, we will unveil him to the media before he (Williamson) will be allowed to meet with the squad,” said Rachier.
Rachier added, “The management has been working round the clock since the post was declared vacant and we are proud to finally have a replacement in Bobby.”
Williamson was in Nairobi on Thursday and held talks with Gor Mahia hierarchy. The coach returned to Kampala immediately after the talks.
He later told Goal in an exclusive interview that it would be a pleasure working with Gor immediately after his meeting with the officials.
“It is true I met Gor Mahia officials in Nairobi and we discussed my intended move to the club. It would be a pleasure to work with the club which is one of the biggest in Kenya.
“Gor Mahia is a top club with a massive following and any coach would be interested to be part of that family. I have been following keenly the club’s activities while in Uganda and I know they won a double and were on the verge of winning the league last season.”
Williamson lost Uganda job in April after handling the Cranes for close to five years winning four Cecafa Cup titles and twice missed taking the country to the finals of Africa Nations Cup by a whisker in (2012 and 2013).
karibu teacher willy now ni sawa kabisa.cant wait u soon greenarmy.
Sasa cup ni ye2 huyù ni sir Bobby willy aka BIG BOSS nangoja kumwona tokomwanda akiwa kwa bench yawa!
At least the agitation for stabilisation is now a thing of the past. Now let’s give our all as fans as we usually do. I hope Bobby brings a different type of management to the team. The thing of those who cannot run and play at the same time are no over.
Let’s start our journey to the championship this weekend
No coach whether foreign or local can succeed under this executive community structure of 14 officials 90% who have vested & ulterior interests (no merchandise, no purchase of players of right calibre e.g creative midfeilders, creation of unwarranted scandals)
Williamson will come with his demands e.g signing of quality players, prompt payment of bonuses then EC will cook up allegations
I hear EC make decisions by voting but when it comes to financial undertakings/commitments
Long live Chairman Ambrose Rachier for being the best chairman that Gor Mahia fc ever had. I propose that we as K’Ogalo fans should give the chairman another chance to guide this great club to the desired hights.Rachier for chairman. Let us also change the clubs constitution by replacing the chairmans position with that of clubs president with a term of four yrs and make Rachier the first president of this great club.Long live Rachier, Long live K’ogalo. K’ogalo forever.
its only AR who is willing on underwrite on behalf of the club( of course to be refunded later). That’s why am calling on former legends e.g Obwaka,Lule,Sianga etc to vie for a reduced office of at most 7 officials. Finally to JBO the charades of the EC constantly sidelining you probably means that you’re not a YES man, to Williams karibu we want titles so demand quality players and whatever you need from the EC, to fans CHANGE THE OFFICE STRUCTURE COME NEXT ELECTION AND ITS TIME 4 EX LEGENDS
2 yr contract according 2 one AR. George bwana has just said(michezo afrika)1yr deal.where is the truth?
@ODUORI 12 i support your sentiments. I said before that if the current EC do not change then even if they hire furgason to coach the club, we will go nowhere. Williamson is one of the best coaches and will deliver if given enough supported.
Greeting to all my fellow fans.
For heaven shake, Gor Mahia only needs 4 officials with a full secretariat that should comprise of CEO, Marketing, Membership and Merchadising Director, Finance & Admin Director and Technical Director (Coach). The Executive Committee/board of directors should comprise of Chairman and vice chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. In total the board should comprise of 7 members where 4 from executive committee and 3 from secretariat.
The club does not need bloated office whose interests are not well known. What are many assistants and deputies going to do for the club? What value additions are these officials going to add to the club?
In this regard, we need aggressive, innovative, energetic, brilliant, and high level of integrity in managing the affairs of the club. We would like to know what the aspiring officials gona add to the club.
Gate collections has been an eye sore to all Kigali fraternity. All these outgoing officials have high stake at gate.
This guy represents stability having coached the Cranes for 5 years. I look forward to a consistent manager who is level headed and understands problems bedevelling Kenyan Clubs (and by extension most African Clubs), lack of money. But he comes to the biggest club in the region and I believe he’ll understand the demands of the most passionate fans in the region. With support from all stakeholders Bob can deliver. Bob can work closely with the present technical bench to first get an established first team then the rest can fall into place. The confusion previously caused by loga can be a thing of the past. Welcome COACH AND we believe that this is the beginning of a fresh start to win the Kpl.
Sir John Bobby Ogola is my man. EC must change their way otherwise the more things change the more they remain the same. I welcome Bob and I hope he will fine tune the flair and beauty that Sir Bobby is inculcating in our style of play.
Williamson may be a good coach but will this EC give him time to run the playing unit? I believe if the EC will be the ones deciding which player to play for Gor,then I’m sorry to say Williamson will not be here for long. It’s only Local Coaches allow themselves to be manipulated. We should set out rules on how to manage the club. Each member of Technical bench and EC should have his/her roles set up clearly. This will avoid any EC member bringing Waiganjo’s to Gor as a player. The Coach will know who official to face in case of any issue.Fans will also have their role. When fans have a problem they resort to violence because there is no mechanism of addressing their grievances.
Karibu Bobby Williamson. I expect you to instill the champions mentality and energy i see in our 7’s team. That is one of the reasons we at Kogalo always trust Odieros. We have good players who need mentoring and polishing.
To JBO, please try and get some of the papers these guys keep beating you with if you want a full time career as a coach.
Welcome coach we r looking forward for better results
Welcome willy,we are so happy for the gor team..we gonna make it wid u.
I watched the match between Kogalo and Bandari fc and i was like the latter displayed a better game , why would Ogola rest pipo like Rasta, Dan Sserankuma and Kevin Omosh when strikers like Kiongera and Rama were visibly exhausted even our shouts for substitution could not attract his attention . Sir Williamson welcome and take charge.
All the Best Bobby Cranes stupidity is definetly Gors Gain .
