Returning to Machakos for the first time in years, Gor Mahia completely overwhelemed Nakumatt with three goals from Kagere before Wellington Ochieng sealed the score.<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting from futaa.com<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">KPL reigning champions Gor Mahia have sent a resounding statement after smashing opponents Nakumatt 4-0 in their opener played on Saturday 3rd February at the Machakos Stadium.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Meddie Kagere was the day&#8217;s hero stretching from his Super Cup prowess to record a hat-trick in the match, two goals in the second half and one in the first half while Wellington Ochieng&#8217; sealed the win with a late goal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Gor Mahia was evidently the better side in the first half fresh from their Super Cup win over arch rivals AFC Leopards last weekend.\u00a0Francis Kahata, Meddie Kagere and Earnest Wendo enjoyed a \u00a0brilliant combination in the match managing to expose their opponents\u2019 defence on numerous occasions. The goals were however not easily forthcoming as Nakumatt remained vigilant.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><b>Goals galore\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Rwandan would however soon break the Shoppers defence with a shot inside the 18-yard area having controlled in from a counter attack for a one nil lead into the halftime break.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The second half was no better for the Nakumatt side with Kagere resuming to haunt them and pile misery in the 54th minute; sealing his double. The striker who also netted during the Super Cup sent in a low driven shot from inside the box into the bottom corner sending the travelling fans into a frenzy.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Cercidy Okeyo also enjoyed a fine form after coming on in the second half to supply the killer cross that was finally buries by Kagere and continued to show brilliance into the rest of the match.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It was things fall apart for Nakumatt in the second half after Kagere sealed his hattrick in the 80th minute from an easy tap-in into the bottom left corner of the post with Lucas Indeche well beaten on goal.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Two minutes later, Wellington Ochieng\u2019 made it four goal to nil after shooting straight into the net at close range from an assist by Boniface Omondi.
