The match was forced into penalties after both teams failed to hit the back of the net in 90 minutes.

Gor won the toss and decided to start the kicks. Rama Salim was first and he hit his to the far right corner with a fully stretched Joseck Gathongo failing to stop it. Ibrahim Ateng’ took Muhoroni’s first kick and he kept the team level with a superb kick that sent keeper Ivo Mapunda the wrong way.

Captain of the day Moses Odhiambo stepped up for the second and he did not do wrong sending the ball into the far left with keeper Gathongo going the wrong way. However, David Oriki blasted his kick wide to give Gor an edge.

Yussuf Juma ensured Gor stayed on the lead with a powerful kick right through the centre. Gregory Nyapala then made it 3-2 also with a well taken penalty, Ivo Mapunda going the wrong way. George Midenyo blasted his penalty on the cross bar to give Muhoroni the lifeline, but Collins Neto failed to make good the favor, blasting his kick way over the bar.

Ugandan Danni Sserunkuma handed Gor a Semi final berth with a well taken kick, sending Gathongo the wrong way.

Muhoroni would feel the more aggrieved side after losing several chances in the first half when Gor looked lost and played without their usual rhythm. Save for two half chances from Teddy Akumu and Kelvin Omondi, Gor never really threatened with the Muhoroni defense keeping their stand.

Gor had a better second half with Coach Logarusic bringing in Yusuf Juma for Chris Wekesa as he wanted more attacking options. Edwin Lavatsa came on for the injured Ali Abondo.

Collins Neto threatened early for Muhoroni with Ivo Mapunda off his line, but Neto had a heavy first vtouch cleared away by Donald Mosoti. Two minutes later, Gor were awakened from their slip and Ibrahim Ateng’ had a goal line clearance from Danni Serunkuma’s shot.

Collins Neto had a chance in the near post with 55 minutes gone, connecting to an Abbey Kynkurunmi cross, but went wide.

With 7 minutes gone into the second half, Danni Sserunkuma had the best chance for Gor but he blasted the ball over the bar after a good cutting pass from Kelvin Omondi who had dribbled past four defenders from the right.

With 20 nminutes left on the clock, Collins Neto saw another of his attempts blow up in smoke with a shot inside the 18 yard area flying high equal for a rugby conversion after a pass from David Oriki.

Seven minutes to go, Joseck Githongo had a spectacular save from George Midenyo’s header after a curling cross from Rama Salim.

Gor will now meet with AFC Leopards in the Semi finals, for the second time in a row. The teams also met last year at the same stage with Gor winning by a solitary goal.

Courtesy of michezoafrika.com FKF Cup defending Champions Gor Mahia beat Muhoroni Youth 4-2 on post match penalties to set up

[1

post-1075","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
