Gor Mahia won their round of 16 match in the 2018 Sportpesa shield, beating Posta Rangers 3-1. Kevin Omondi scored twice and Samuel Onyango added the third goal.

\nGor could have opened the lead from as early as the 7th minute but Samuel Onyango delayed too much and invited Jockins Atudo to close in on after he broke loose on the right flank. Posta had their chance in the 9th minute when they launched a superb counter-attack but Joseph Mbugi fluffed the supposed final touch and that was the unfortunate end to their attacks. <\/p>\n
Peter Ng’ang’a was dangerously fouled by Lawrence Juma and the Gor midfielder had to be cautioned with the first yellow card of the match. Posta did not make any tangible investment with the resultant free kick.<\/p>\n
Opener<\/p>\n
Kevin Omondi slotted home the opener for Gor in the 35th minute after Atudo took a poor pass and thereafter losing it to Ade who was lurking around. The winger collected the ball and slotted past Baraza in a cool way.<\/p>\n
Cavin Odongo wasted a marvelous chance for Posta in the 44th minute when he found himself all alone with Shaban Odhoji but he failed to score as Posta continued to be wasteful upfront despite a series of attacks.<\/p>\n
Brace<\/p>\n
Ade got his brace in the 53rd minute after he beat Baraza on the near post. Pamzo reacted by withdrawing Cavin Odongo and brought Paul Odhiambo just to give his team a cutting edge at the far end. Onyango provided Omondi with the pass for his second goal.<\/p>\n
Substitute Odhiambo made his mark felt on the pitch when he picked quite finely a pass from Gershon Likono and lobbed it over Odhoji for Posta’s first goal. Likono atoned his sins for creating the assist after he had missed an earlier missed teh opportunity to score for the Mailmen. Posta was however punished more by Onyango in the 70th minute when he netted the third goal for the Green Army. Kerr introduced Ephrem Guikan and brought out the brace king Omondi to add more power in his attacking unit especially after Asudi was taken out.<\/p>\n
