The goals came from Innocent Wafula, Francis Mustafa and Kevin Omondi.

Additional reporting from futaa.com
Innocent Wafula and Francis Mustapha scored two quick fire goals for Gor in the opening half before Benjamin Oketch pulled one back for Homeboyz in the second half but hopes of Homeboyz comeback were extinguished by Kevin Omondi with a last gasp goal.

Early chances

Fred Nkata’s charges were off the blocks from the onset and would have grabbed the lead inside the opening three minutes but Wycliffe Opondo’s header flew over the cross bar after Moses Mudavadi whipped in a dangerous cross. George Blackberry Odhiambo required treatment after colliding with the onrushing Gabriel Andika after Odhiambo was played through on goal but was flagged for offside in the 10th minute. Gor had their first real opening of the game in the 15th minute when Burundian Mustapha tested the palms of Andika with a ferocious shot from a Francis Kahata corner.

Homeboyz continued to press on for an opener with Festo Omukoto’s thunderbolt shot narrowly missing the mark after being set up by Eston Esiye. The new partnership between Blackberry and Mustapha almost yielded a goal in the 27th minute when Mustapha teed up Blackberry but the former Azam midfielder’s effort was gathered by Andika.

Two goal lead

Wellington Ochieng’s give and take pass with Innocent Wafula on the right flank resulted to a goal after Wafula drove in to guide his effort to the top right corner handing Dylan Kerr’s charges the lead in the 31st minute. Homeboyz were rocked with the goal and shipped in another after two minutes later with Mustapha banging his maiden KPL goal after Nzigiyimana played him through on goal. Gor went into the break with a two goal cushion.

After the resumption of the second half, Mustapha was withdrawn with Kevin Ade Omondi thrown into the foray. Nkata rolled his first dice in the 55th bringing in George Mandela for Evans Kiwanuka which was preceded by Masakidi Mata’s inclusion for Estone Esiye. Mata was straight into the thick of things, with his header going agonizingly wide off the cross bar from Mudavadi’s cross. Kerr made his second substitution, introducing Samuel Onyango for Nzigiyimana.

Homeboyz goal

New signing Benjamin Oketch from Chemelil Sugar pulled one back for Homeboyz in the 71st minute courtesy of sublime freekick that deflected off the K’Ogallo wall. In front of his home town fans Wellington produced a lung bursting run from his own half playing wall passes with Kahata and Blackberry but his impressive run was halted by Andika.

Ade goal

Substitute Ade put the game to bed ending Homeboyz hopes of snatching a point in the game when got into the score sheet in the 88th minute with a shot that found the roof of the net for a 3-1 lead. The match ended 3-1 in favour of Gor Mahia as they condemned Homeboyz to their fifth straight loss of the season.

Gor Mahia Starting XI: Shaban Odhoji (GK), Wellington Ochieng, Joash Onyango, Haron Shakava, Karim Nzigiyimana (Samuel Onyango), Humphrey Mieno, Ernest Wendo, Francis Kahata, Innocent Wafula, George Odhiambo, Francis Mustafa (Kevin Omondi)

Subs: Fredrick Onyango, Charles Momanyi, Bernard Ondiek, Cercidy Okeyo, Lawrence Juma, Samuel Onyango, Kevin Omondi

Homeboyz Starting XI: Gabriel Andika (GK), Benjamin Oketch, Chikati Moses, Odhiambo Collins, Mauda Hedmond, Evans Kiwanuka (George Mandela), Festo Omukoto, Mudavadi Moses, Ali Bai, Opondo Wycliffe, Esiye Eston (Masakidi Mata)

Subs: Michael Wanyika, Wycliffe Anekeya, Andrew Kulecho, Benson Mutonyi, George Mandela, Mata Masakidi

Putting aside all the off the field unrest, Gor Mahia continued their surge towards the 2018 Kenya Premier League title,

[1
524,421
post-11125","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-2018-kenya-premier-league","tag-gor-mahia-vs-kakamega-homeboyz
["GET
