{"id":13821,"date":"2019-01-31T01:22:47","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T01:22:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/?p=13821"},"modified":"2019-01-31T01:23:11","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T01:23:11","slug":"gor-mahia-blanks-sony-sugar-2-0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/news\/gor-mahia-blanks-sony-sugar-2-0\/","title":{"rendered":"Gor Mahia blanks SoNy Sugar 2-0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A double from Jacque Tuyisenge put Gor Mahia&#8217;s 2018-2019 aspirations back on track. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional reporting from the Nation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gor Mahia bounced back from a disappointing week with a deserved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nation.co.ke\/sports\/football\/KPL-LIVE-Leaders-Mathare-battle-Sharks-Gor-away-to-Sony\/1102-4958332-r5asliz\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2-0<\/a> win over Sony Sugar in a midweek SportPea Premier League match at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rwandan striker Jacques Tuyisenge struck a goal in each half to guide Hassan Oktay&#8217;s charges to the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it was the sugar millers who looked hungrier for early goals when they took the game to Gor&#8217;s half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barely two minutes into the game, the visitors had already won themselves a corner but Daniel Otieno&#8217;s effort went begging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moments\n later, Tobias Otieno had his first direct attempt in front of the goal \njust outside the box but his shot sailed over the cross bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gor&#8217;s\n speedy striker Nicholas Kipkirui raced with the ball on the right wing \nin the sixth minute, evaded a tackle from his marker, dribble into the \nbox but his powerful shot was only good for the side netting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gor took the lead on 11 minutes after Tuiyisenge fired home from a Sammy Onyango cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenneth\n Muguna should have doubled their advantage on 21 minutes but his \nrasping shot from the edge of the box was stopped by Sony custodian \nKevin Omondi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sony head coach Patrick Odhiambo brought in Ronald Otieno and rested Ambrose Ayoyi before the break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\n was drama during the half time break after centre referee George Mwai \nwas accosted by Gor team manager Jolawi Obondo, who blocked his way as \nhe walked to dressing room accusing him of denying Gor a goal after \nSammy Onyango&#8217;s corner kick was deflected by a Sony defender into his \nown net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The security officers at the venue moved in \nquickly and cooled the tempers. Tuyisenge would then complete his brace \n20 minutes from time with a thumping header from Boniface Omindi&#8217;s \nsuperb cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Omondi put in a man-of-the-match performance in this tie.\\<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OLIECH JOINS THE FRAY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oktay introduced Francis Kahata, Dennis Oliech and Benard Ondiek for Sammy Onyango, Tuyisenge and Lawrence Juma late on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis\n game we played for 60 minutes only as we had a lot of sideshows outside\n and inside the pitch. My boys were intimidated and the referee failed \nto protect them.
