But Mount Kenya United players were holed up at City stadium refusing to travel to Machakos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their coach  Melis Medo tried in vain to convince the players to honour the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> &#8220;I have tried to convince the players to honour this match but they have refused. They are way within their rights not to play so there is nothing I can do,&#8221; he said to the Nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coach confirmed that he too is owed salary arrears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I have also not been paid for a while. I could be kicked out of my house tomorrow (today) over rent arrears and my electricity people say they will disconnect supply this (last) evening over the same issue.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/images\/mt-kenya.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Mount Kenya Players at City Stadium on Thursday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another Mount Kenya player told the Nation that the playing unit has not been paid in seven months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> &#8220;I have been locked out of the house and haven&#8217;t eaten since yesterday. I am not in the right frame of mind to play the game and might even collapse on the pitch,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coach Medo lamented the state of Kenya football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\n&#8220;I think football in Kenya is all about politics and no tangible action. There is no problem in having five logos on the jerseys for example but are the concerned people doing enough to bring in more sponsors?&#8221;\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mount Kenya was United was founded by a politician Francis Mureithi. When Nakumatt FC was disbanded, Mureithi purchased the rights, which earned him a straight ticket to the Kenya Premier League.
