He says he was abandoned by both Gor Mahia and by FKF and had to depend on well wishers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional reporting from the Nation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gor Mahia player Philemon Otieno has been sidelined for four \nmonths after undergoing successful knee surgery on Thursday last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\n is after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) failed to cater for his \ntreatment for an injury he sustained while on national duty with \nHarambee Stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Otieno was injured \nduring the return leg of the first round 2020 Africa Nations \nChampionship (Chan) qualifier pitting Harambee Stars against Taifa Stars\n at Kasarani in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Otieno told \nNation Sport that he was operated on in one of the hospitals in Nairobi \nafter raising the required Sh450,000 for surgery. He revealed that the \namount was realised through contributions by family members, friends, \nfans and part of his savings. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI \nunderwent surgery on my knee on Thursday (last week) and I&#8217;ve been \ncontinuing with physiotherapy since then according to doctor\u2019s \ninstructions. I am very grateful to my family, friends, fellow players \nand fans for coming to my aid at the time of need and for their \nprayers,\u201d an emotional Otieno said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>KEFWA SUPPORT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>tieno also thanked Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (Kefwa) for supporting him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cApart\n from Kefwa, I want to specifically thank Musa Mohamed, Michael Olunga, \nJoash Onyango, Johana Omollo and Aboud Omar. Indeed they are true \nfriends plus all those who helped me,\u201d he added. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mbish,\n as he is fondly referred to by fans, also insisted that he has no hard \nfeelings against FKF saying he is willing to feature for the national \nteam in future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat transpired is \nnow history to me and my main aim is to embark on a process to recovery \nand play football again. I am in touch with my club, players and the \ncoach and I think I will be able to play again in January next year. I \nhaven\u2019t ruled out playing for the national team in future since it \nprovides a platform for one to grow in his career.
