{"id":16150,"date":"2020-08-21T12:04:40","date_gmt":"2020-08-21T12:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/?p=16150"},"modified":"2020-08-21T14:06:30","modified_gmt":"2020-08-21T14:06:30","slug":"gor-mahia-target-kevin-okumu-joins-wazito","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/news\/gor-mahia-target-kevin-okumu-joins-wazito\/","title":{"rendered":"Gor Mahia target Kevin Okumu joins Wazito"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fast rising Kevin Okumu is reported to have been a target of Gor Mahia but has instead opted to join Wazito<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting from goal.com<\/p>\n<p>The defender\u2019s arrival takes the number of new players at the Nairobi club to six and is expected to bolster the squad <\/p>\n<p>Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Wazito FC have completed the signing of Kevin \u2018Chumsy\u2019 Okumu from Nairobi City Stars.<br \/>\nOkumu was previously targeted by KPL heavyweights Gor Mahia but his Wazito arrival has now ended the speculation that had surrounded his future for some time now.<\/p>\n<p>Okumu and Levis Opiyo, who has so far signed for Gor Mahia, were key in Nairobi City Stars 2019\/20 National Super League (NSL) campaign where they topped and eventually got promoted back to the KPL.<\/p>\n<p>The two had their contracts expire and according to Nairobi City Stars Chief Executive (CEO) Patrick Korir, they were not keen to renew them as they explained they had already got offers from elsewhere.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are elated to announce the signing of exciting right-back Kevin \u2018Chumsy\u2019 Okumu from Nairobi City Stars,\u201d Wazito said as they confirmed their sixth signing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChumsy is an alumnus of Uhuru Secondary School and brings speed, hard work and good defending to the team.\u201d<br \/>\nThe full-back offered hope to the fans and said he has come to help the team have a better outing in the new season.<br \/>\n\u201cFinally, I am here and I am really happy,\u201d Okumu said.<br \/>\n\u201cWazito have been my dream team for some time now and I am glad that the move has materialised.<br \/>\n\u201cTo the management and the fans, I want to tell them that I have come here to work hard and challenge for a position in the team.
