{"id":16299,"date":"2020-09-29T15:27:26","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T15:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/?p=16299"},"modified":"2020-09-30T02:40:23","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T02:40:23","slug":"nick-mwendwa-announces-new-broadcasting-deal-for-kenya-football","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/news\/nick-mwendwa-announces-new-broadcasting-deal-for-kenya-football\/","title":{"rendered":"Nick Mwendwa announces new broadcasting deal for Kenya Football"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/images\/mwendwa-blue.jpg\" width=\"601\" height=\"442\" \/><br \/>\nAfter several years without a broadcast partner, local football is set to be broadcast once again thus giving footballers and opportunity to showcase their skills to a wider audience<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting from the Nation<\/p>\n<p>Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has announced a broadcast deal involving StarTimes, the men and women national teams, top-flight league, and second-tier.<\/p>\n<p>The FKF boss took to Twitter to make the announcement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He further explained that the deal was worth Sh770 million over seven years and it will entail the broadcast of live matches involving the aforementioned teams.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;FKFPL (is) back on TV!!(the) 7-year deal, 1.1 million dollars a year including national teams men and women, NSL 30 matches,&#8221; tweeted Mwendwa.<\/p>\n<p>He did not announce when this deal will take effect.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese-owned StarTimes, which has a similar deal with Uganda&#8217;s top-flight football league, is yet to comment on the development.<\/p>\n<p>When it is unveiled, StarTimes will replace South African-owned payTV Supersport, which walked out on a five-year agreement in 2017 following a contractual dispute.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second multi-million sponsorship deal Mwendwa is announcing on Twitter in the past three months.<\/p>\n<p>Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa (left) with Ulinzi Stars chairman Col.
