{"id":16346,"date":"2020-10-11T00:15:30","date_gmt":"2020-10-11T00:15:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/?p=16346"},"modified":"2020-10-11T00:15:30","modified_gmt":"2020-10-11T00:15:30","slug":"polack-explains-his-departure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/news\/polack-explains-his-departure\/","title":{"rendered":"Polack explains his departure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/images\/polack-sjak-Oct-19.jpg\" width=\"466\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Departing British Coach Steve Polack has said that his departure is because the club could not meet the financial commitments he requested due to the Covid 19 pandemic<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting from goal.com<\/p>\n<div class=\"teaser\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Steven Polack has appreciated <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Gor Mahia<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">&#8216;s players for their hard work and commitment during his time with the team.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"body\">\n<p>The 59-year-old and the Kenyan outfit parted ways after just one season in charge and the tactician states the decision\u00a0had to be made owing to the Covid-19 situation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The club and I have come to a mutual agreement to terminate my contract due to the economic downturn and coronavirus pandemic which is not only affecting Gor Mahia FC but also other clubs and businesses around the world,&#8221; Polack said in a statement obtained by Goal.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">&#8220;I would like to say thank you to the club for giving me the opportunity to coach Gor Mahia FC. I enjoyed working with all the staff and of course the players. I thank them for their hard work, dedication, and commitment, so continue that same attitude going forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It has been an honour working with you all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Finnish has also thanked the fans for their support while acknowledging the hospitality of\u00a0the Kenyan people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And of course the supporters, which of course, you don&#8217;t have a club without them,&#8221; Polack continued.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They really made me very welcome and they were unbelievably the best in\u00a0<a class=\"crossLinks\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goal.com\/en\/team\/kenya\/1bmo12zm87ntftwze4ihltiom\">Kenya<\/a>\u00a0and I really appreciate their support.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would also like to give a very big thank you to the Kenyan people for making me feel at ease and at home.
