Prior to that , he had been club secretary in 2003-2004 and assistant coach in 2009. Popularly known as &#8220;Agido&#8221;, Ochieng was very popular amongst fans and players alike. Ochieng became even more popular amongst fans when he steered the club to a 5th place finish in the 2009 Kenya Premier League. Gor Mahia had not finished in the top 5 over the previous 10 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style3\">Gideon Ochieng had played for Gor Mahia as left full back from 1991 to 1997 having joined from Re Union FC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style3\">In 2010 , Zedekiah Otieno &#8220;Zico&#8221; was brought in as Technical Director to work alongside &#8220;Agido&#8221;. It was an inexplicable decision on the part of Gor Mahia&#8217;s management. In April of 2010, Ochieng was sidelined. The reason&#8217;s given for his firing were that there was a power struggle between him and Otieno &#8220;Zico&#8221; and that Ochieng had also failed his probation. The last reason was nonsensical. And Agido denied that he had any problems with Zico.
