Gor Mahia have announced four players who will be dropped during the mid season transfer season.\u00a0 According to michezoafrika.com, the four are Victor Ali Abondo, Zachary Onyango, Yusuf Juma and Abbey Nattey.<\/p>\n
Ali Abondo had been a favourite of coach Logarusic due to his tactical awareness. He has played in more than half of\u00a0the games this year. But of late he has been accused of not putting forth enough effort. During the 0-0 draw with Tusker, coach Bobby Ogolla was noted saying :\u00a0\u201cYou look at players like Victor Ali, he\u2019s lazy. He doesn\u2019t want to play and there is nothing we can do when it comes to that. The only thing we know is we have done our best to give him a chance.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThat is why he is always the first to be subbed and he shouldn\u2019t really blame anyone except himself.\u201d<\/p>\n
Zachary Onyango was signed from Ethiopia Coffee but has not been fielded in a single match. Gor Mahia are said to be interested in signing a younger goalkeeper whom they can groom. This could be good news for Zachary because like Wycliff Kasaya, he is an experienced goalkeeper who can find a home in another team where he will get playing time.<\/p>\n
Yusuf Juma once played for the Gor Mahia U19 team then let for Thika United where he became a star even earning rave reviews when he played for the national team. He has been unable to gain a foothold since joining the club in January 2012.<\/p>\n
Abbey Nattey joined in January of 2013 from SoNy Sugar and has seen no playing time other than in friendlies.<\/p>\n
George Bwana has told michezoafrika.com that they are in talks with other players whom they hope can join the team before June 22.<\/p>\n
Injuries<\/strong><\/p>\n Given the rash of injuries the club faced in the first leg, it seems clear that more than 25 players are needed. Chances are that Innocent Mutiso’s injury troubles will recur as will those of others. So why not expand the squad.<\/p>\n Not all players need to be first time players. But Gor Mahia before Logarusic always had a tradition of having young reserve players who are fielded in midweek friendly matches and in lesser tournaments like the KPL top 8. Since Loga says that a squad of more than 25 players is too big then the reserve players can be assigned to work with a different coach.
