AFC Leopards Dutch-born tactician Jan Koo<\/span>ps, has pointed fingers at Gor Mahia officials who he says are to blame over Eric Masika\u2019s exit.<\/span><\/p>\n Koo<\/span>ps said that short-term contract proffered to Masika who was an asset to Gor, was the main reason as to why the player\u2019s move materialized.<\/span><\/p>\n -Gor officials blundered for not binding him on a long-term contract. Had they given him more years, we couldn\u2019t have trailed him, Koo<\/span>ps told <\/span>futaa.com<\/em>.<\/p>\n longer-contracts<\/strong><\/p>\n The Dutch-man who turned fortunes at the club on his inception in the mid-season leading them to 13 matches unbeaten as they finished fifth on the pile, has vowed to challenge AFC management to offer its players longer contract deals to avoid them from falling prey to other clubs.<\/p>\n – Good players need longer contracts; 3-5 years contract deals are safer for the club and the player too. No team will ever approach a player who is on a longer contract with his club. I have already talked with AFC officials over the same, to give players more years to avoid such incidences.<\/p>\n aware<\/strong><\/p>\n Masika\u2019s contract was due in June 2012 and on learning about his acquisition on Monday 19 December, Koo<\/span>ps has promised to commit him on a longer contract for the interest of the club.<\/span><\/p>\n – I hope the management will commit him on a longer contract than expected. He\u2019s an asset and for us to hold him, is by offering him more years. I knew he\u2019s coming, I don\u2019t care how much they will pay, and that\u2019s not my business.<\/p>\n – Currently at AFC, most players are on 2-4 years contract deals, and I am optimistic he\u2019ll be a beneficiary too, concluded Koo<\/span>ps.<\/span><\/p>\n
