The soldiers have 33 points while Gor Mahia have 41.

After their dramatic recovery from 2-0 down to hold bitter rivals AFC Leopards to a 2-2 draw last weekend, Gor Mahia captain, Jerim Onyango, said they had exhibited their champions credentials with the way they fought back, but Williamson says they should only celebrate when the title is won.

“We are still far. Its good we are on top and we are working hard as a team, but I can tell the Gor Mahia family that its not yet time to celebrate,” said the Scot.

“We are taking each game as if it’s a final, we know we have to keep collecting points. There should be no looking back, the race is tight,” he stated. K’Ogalo travel to Awendo this weekend where they take on Sony Sugar in a tricky match which they must ensure victory to ward off the stiff challenge from Ulinzi Stars.

“We are not underrating any opponents at this stage. Even the weakest can cause an upset,” said Williamson

Under Williamson, Gor Mahia are yet to lose a game, although they have dropped six points in draws with Tusker, City Stars and AFC Leopards. But they have also won against Chemelil, Karuturi, Western Stima and Muhoroni.

“It has not been a bad run though there are matches I think we should have won. We learn from our mistakes and improve as a team. What is important is, our discipline must be at its best.”

Gor Mahia has tough encounters in their final push for the title. After Sony Sugar they face champions Tusker on September 15 before hosting Chemelil two weeks later. They also have fixtures against Mathare United, Thika United, KCB, Homeboyz, Sofapaka and end the season with Ulinzi Stars in Afraha.

Meanwhile, Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa says the club signed new coach Sam Timbe to improve their performance.

“We were sinking and it was important we get a quality coach. (David) Ouma has done a good job but he needed some help and that is why we have brought in Timbe,” said Kalekwa.

Timbe, who was the Uganda Cranes assistant coach signed a two-year contract on Tuesday and is expected to start work at Sofapaka this weekend.

“He has won trophies wherever he has been and I am sure he will win trophies with Sofapaka, said Kalekwa. Sofapaka are fourth in the league with 32 points.

Weekend fixtures: Tomorrow: Sofapaka v City Stars (Nyayo-5pm), KCB v Bandari Nyayo-7pm).
