{"id":306,"date":"2012-01-13T20:35:32","date_gmt":"2012-01-13T20:35:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/?p=306"},"modified":"2012-01-13T20:35:32","modified_gmt":"2012-01-13T20:35:32","slug":"gor-mahia-unveil-new-signings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/news\/gor-mahia-unveil-new-signings\/","title":{"rendered":"Gor Mahia unveil new signings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>from nation.co.ke<\/p>\n<p>Gor Mahia has laid down an ambitious plan aimed at improving the stature of the club ahead of the 2011 season.<\/p>\n<p>On the day the club unveiled four of its top signings at their Nyayo National Stadium secretariat, club chairman Ambrose Rachier announced the club will next week advertise for prequalification for various services the club will be outsourcing.<\/p>\n<p>Among the services the club intends to outsource include ticketing, marketing and public relations, security during matches and medical insurance for the team players.<\/p>\n<p>Rachier said Gor Mahia wants to partner with reputable firms to professionalise its operations and maximise on revenue at the gates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to advertise for prequalification for key services. We want to do things in a more professional way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want a reputable firm to take charge of our security and to do our ticketing,\u201d said Rachier at the press briefing.<\/p>\n<p>He also said Gor Mahia will soon announce vacancies for key positions of financial officer and set up a strong marketing team, procurement department and general administration.<\/p>\n<p>Club secretary-general George Bwana said it is important for a club of Gor Mahia\u2019s stature to professionalise its operations so as to attract corporate partners to work closely with the club<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to be the first club to outsource services and have service providers to bid. We will be very transparent in how we handle the bidders and we will welcome them as our partners,\u201d said Bwana.<\/p>\n<p>Gor Mahia needs a whopping Sh60 million to participate in the Caf Confederations Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The club officially unveiled four of their top signings, Ramadhan Salim from Congo United, Ivo Mapunda from Bandari, George Midenyo from Tusker and Yusuf Juma poached from Thika United.<\/p>\n<p>Rachier also used the opportunity to announce that exiting captain Julius \u201cAwilo\u201dOwino has been deployed to assist the technical bench.<\/p>\n<p>Salim, last season\u2019s best new player, said he was at Gor Mahia to win titles, adding he was very excited to play for a club of K\u2019Ogalo\u2019s stature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny young player would love to play for a club with passionate following and rich history like Gor Mahia. I am honoured to join the Green Army,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Midenyo, who last season won the February\/March Kandanda best player\u2019s award, said he was at Gor Mahia to score goals.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s my job to score. Gor Mahia fans should brace themselves for a great season,\u201d said the former Mathare United and Tusker FC striker while Mapunda said he would fight for the number one jersey at the club currently held by Jerim Onyango.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWe have three quality goalkeepers which is good because there will be serious competition.\u201d Gor is also closing in on Nigerian Felixinho Ifeanyi who played for Power Rangers in Nigeria last season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--Ads and Related Buttons--><!-- Ads minus related Buttons --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>He is expected to fill the void left by Eric Masika who joined rivals AFC Leopards.
