He came close on 30 minutes with a well taken shot from the left but Jerim Onyango was well placed to save.

But the keeper would have little to help in 38th minute as Clifford Alwanga broke the deadlock with a well taken free-kick. Jerim had come off his line to block off Alwanga but he handled his shot outside the box for the freekick.

The bankers piled more pressure and on minute 43 it paid off, Jacob Kelli scoring his much sought goal. Gor Mahia’s central defense pairing was caught napping with Alwanga feeding Kelli who in turn riffled into the roof from the left foot.

Gor brightened in the second period, buoyed by the mammoth crowd that had come out to witness them being crowned champions. They were almost cauight napping again but Brian Osumba’s goal in the 52nd minute was disallowed for offside after some good interchange of passes with Kelli.

Bobby Williamson sought to mend his backline that was leaking, pulling off Donald Mosoti for Solomon Nasio. Nasio went to right back while David Owino moved to centre back, a move that settled the nerves for Williamson.

Patrick Oboya also replaced Kevin Omondi and his speed and ball work proved vital into Gor Mahia’s revived attack.Edwin Lavatsa should have done better with 66th minute chance after a good one-two movement with Oboya but he tapped wide with only Sammy Okinda to beat. Three minutes to the final whistle, Gor thought they had scored a consolation but Joseph Wanyonyi’s goal was ruled out for offside.

Gor were however, back to smile after 90 minutes, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga handing over the trophy to Jerim Onyango, much to the elation of K’Ogalo fans in the stadium.

courtesy of goal.com K’Ogalo expected to crown off their moment with a comfortable win, but the bankers had other plans

[1

post-3243","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
