{"id":3406,"date":"2013-12-10T04:02:48","date_gmt":"2013-12-10T04:02:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/?p=3406"},"modified":"2014-01-23T13:59:03","modified_gmt":"2014-01-23T13:59:03","slug":"gor-mahia-to-hold-elections-meeting-on-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/news\/gor-mahia-to-hold-elections-meeting-on-tuesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Gor Mahia to hold elections meeting on Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gormahia.net\/images\/peace.jpg\" width=\"485\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p>courtesy of the Nation<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Gor Mahia will be holding a consultative meeting on Tuesday aimed at mapping out modalities for the club\u2019s elections scheduled for December 15th.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The meeting which will be held at the club\u2019s secretariat will bring together the club\u2019s leadership, aspiring candidates and leaders of the braches.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The club\u2019s senior vice chairman David Kiilo told Nation Sport that the meeting will be a \u201cstorming session\u201d where the various parties are expected to reach an amicable settlement on the way forward regarding the forthcoming polls.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>ELECTION RULES<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>One of the issues topping the agenda is the applicant\u2019s nomination fee. There is also a possibility that the gathering could postpone the date of the polls in order to provide time to put in place the requisite measures for a successful poll.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWe had a meeting yesterday (Sunday) where we explored on the election rules and what needs to be done. We just wanted to know if all the parameters have been met for the elections,\u201d said Kiilo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Regarding the actual election date, Kiilo who is defending his seat said that though others have floated the idea of pushing the polls forward, it just remains a suggestion as \u201cnothing tangible has been agreed upon\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cTomorrow (Tuesday) we will be exploring on a number of issues so that we come up with a common stand. We do not want case we hold sham polls. We want it to be well organized and the results acceptable to everyone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThere is no vacuum in leadership in Gor so there is no hurry, but nothing tangible has been discussed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Initially the club had settled on a Sh200,000 nomination fee for those contesting the chairman\u2019s position but this proposal has been opposed by other parties.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Incumbent chairman Ambrose Rachier who also doubles up as the new Kenyan Premier League chairman will be defending his seat for a record fourth time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Rachier is facing opposition from advocates Eric Adede and Henry Okwiri. Kiilo who is second in command to Rachier on the other hand will have to contend with competition from Erick Wasuna.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Meanwhile the club has insisted that star shot-stopper Ivo Mapunda whose contract expires on December 31st will not leave the club.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThere is no way we will let him (Ivo) go.
