It was a dream start for Kogalo to the 2012 Kenya Premier league season. They beat Thika United 2-0 in a season opener aka milk derby played at Thika municipal stadium.<\/p>\n
Despite missing several regulars who were missing for various reasons such as Baldwin Ngwa, Edwin Lavatsa, Ivo Mapunda and others, Gor Mahia’s depth of talent came through. <\/p>\n
Two players whom fans have not seen were amongst the key performers. Anthony Otieno Nyangor played a key role in the match opener. His cross was deflected by Moses Otieno and found Dan Makori who tapped home. 10 minutes earlier, Makori had come close but his shot hit the upright. Gor Mahia led 1-0 at halftime. And Makori seems to be making good on his promise to help end the goal-scoring drought that plagued Kogalo last year.<\/p>\n
In the second half Gor Mahia started as they ended the first half. Collins “Gattuso” Okoth sent a long ball to Hugo Nzoka who was also making his debut. Nzoka beat the advancing Thika keeper with a well taken finish. <\/p>\n
Second half subsitute Moses Odhiambo aka Lucky Dube twice came close to making it 3. But his efforts were denied by the THika goalkeeper. <\/p>\n
The start is a stark contrast to the previous two seasons when Kogalo’s early season form was sub par. Fans hope the club can keep up the form.<\/p>\n
