AFC Leopards’ Secretary General George Aladwa says the ban on night matches has seen a dwindling number of supporters.

“Nowadays, our fans don’t have time to turn up for matches especially those that are held in mid-week. We want this ban to be lifted because it is affecting our revenues,” Aladwa told Goal.

Gor Mahia Secretary General Chris Omondi says the ban has significantly affected their revenues which they rely on for running the club. “It is even worse when we have to host our home matches in mid-weeks. It affects our revenue collections significantly.”

Before the ban came into effect, night matches were so popular with local fans despite the 7pm kick-off time. Kenyan Premier League Chief Executive Jack Oguda says he is aware of concerns raised by the two clubs and are considering appealing against it.

“Our clubs are being affected and have approached us to intervene. We will soon lodge an appeal with FKF because we do not want them to continue suffering.”

The night ban was effected by FKF following terror related cases that have locked the country.

Williamson: We must drop “crisis” tag

courtesy of goal.com

K’Ogalo tactician refuses to let his head drop in the wake of defeat to Bandari FC insisting they must remain strong as they try to return to winning ways

Coach Bobby Williamson has urged his charges to shut out the ‘crisis calling’ critics and be strong as they try to wrestle back initiative in the title race.

Sunday’s 2-1 defeat against Bandari – only their second of the season – has left Gor Mahia four points behind league leaders Tusker FC and, inevitably, their title prospects have now been written off in some quarters.

But Williamson refuses to let his head drop in the wake of Sunday’s result. “I think we have to be positive,” said the Scott. “It is very easy to say we lost to Bandari and let our heads go down. We have to be strong, be together more than ever and do our best until the end of the season,” he told Gor Mahia GOAL.

“We have been playing well and creating our chances too in the games but we have only been unlucky to score. Anyone who has been watching the games can attest to that. Of course we are concerned about it and are working hard to improve on our conversion rates.

“Our supporters should be calm. We are not in any form of crisis and there is no cause for alarm. It’s about what we believe up until the end of the season. People are not going to play for us and it is up to us to show what we can do and we must do our talking on the pitch.”

After tight action month, Gor Mahia will have a week long break with no action coming next weekend and Williamson believes the time will help rest some tired legs. Gor Mahia will face KCB on Wednesday (April 9) at City Stadium.

“We have been highly engaged in many games since the season started and getting the break will be good to allow some our the players rest. We will also be able to asses the ones returning from injury before our match on Wednesday.”

courtesy of goal.com Both clubs have appealed to Kenya Premier League to intervene and have the ban done away with

[1

post-4308","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
