Long serving Gor Mahia full back Solomon Nasio has thanked Gor Mahia fans who came through for him to help pay his medical bills. By Wednesday evening, KSh 113, 724 had been collected for Nasio all in one day.\u00a0 This after the line (0716 373 503) was opened for fans to contribute.<\/p>\n

First of all,To God be the glory.

\nI would like to Take this opportunity to Thank all those who were able to contribute towards my medical kitty..deep down my heart am so humbled,I never thought such a thing could happen to me,I even don’t know how much I can Thank you guys.Thanks to all those who have made this initiative a success-from the Newspaper guys,websites,kenya football fans at large,friends,relatives and all the well wishers…I don’t take it forgranted.Am truly thankful,Tony Anelka and Erick baraza may God’s light shine upon your lives and everything you do..

Brief Solomon Nasio profile<\/h3>\n

The 28 year old Nasio joined Gor Mahia in 2009. Along with Jerim Onyango, he is among the longest serving players in the team. He mostly plays at full back where he is dependable on defence and calm and collected on the ball. Prior to joining Gor Mahia, he played with Dandora youth academy among others and attended Maranda secondary. His contract with Gor Mahia ends in June and fans will be hoping to still see him in the Gor Mahia jersey beyond June.<\/p>\n

This statement was posted in social media by Chris Omondi as he sought to distance himself from the accusation that he stated “The club has no money to assist Nasio<\/em>“.<\/p>\n

My take on Solomon Nasio’s issue:-<\/p>\n

I regularly attend the teams'(both Senior n Under 19) training sessions to either catch up with the ongoings in the teams or have some pep talk with the TBs,players but oftenly the Captain and Vice Captain……..<\/p>\n

Sometime in March during such talks,the captain n vice captain brought to my attention this case after the match against Bandari-that Nasio had a pending surgery procedure since last year…n that this injury explained his early substitution during that Bandari match……they equally told me that the previous officials were aware of his predicament…..the captains told me that since the players felt that the office was not doing anything,they had decided each to contribute 5k to that cause!!!BUT there i was as an official n was not aware of this problem,called the treasurer,he was not aware too…..though the “old” officials were aware of the case…..<\/span><\/p>\n

I confess that i told the two captains that its embarassing if they were to treat their colleague from their sources n i promised them i am taking up the issue…..i corraborated their story from Nasio,the TM,the Chairman n the team doctor….the player told me he had saved 50k n thus i approached the office for 120k….minutes of several meetings can bail me out on this…..<\/p>\n

Whereas this issue is so embarassing to our club n the officials in particular….the rush for blood displayed on the different walls is a bit harsh n some laughable-eg its known you never pay entry to the stadium(coz of reasons not associated with press card) yet you are yelling here the most!!!!<\/p>\n

Fellow followers,i believe Nasio’s case illustrate the problems of the past…..problems that have now been forestalled ,at least for one year,by the Players’ n TBs Medical Insurance Cover that was launched yesterday….isnt that positive moving forward??so we get roasted for a past we were not in charge of???<\/p>\n

Maybe this exposure may catalyse reactions elsewhere n our player will be treated……HOWEVER,being saddled with problems DOES not mean we lose focus on the future…..we are trying to lay the INFRASTRUCTURE for change……Nasio atatibiwa<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
