{"id":4650,"date":"2014-05-25T14:15:15","date_gmt":"2014-05-25T14:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/?p=4650"},"modified":"2014-05-25T15:34:48","modified_gmt":"2014-05-25T15:34:48","slug":"tusker-edge-gor-mahia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/news\/tusker-edge-gor-mahia\/","title":{"rendered":"Tusker edge Gor Mahia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>courtesy of futaa.com<\/p>\n<p>Kenya Premier League (KPL) Top 8 defending champions Tusker FC registered a narrow 1-0 win over Gor Mahia in the first leg semifinal clash played on Sunday 25 May at Kinoru Stadium starting 1500 hours local time.<\/p>\n<p>From a goalless first half, Tusker FC resumed and immediately went ahead thanks to a 15<sup>th<\/sup> second strike from Brian Osumba after the latter latched on a Clifford Alwanga through pass to loop oncoming Jerim Onyango in the Gor Mahia goal.<\/p>\n<p><b>Handled the ball<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tusker would have doubled the lead in the 49<sup>th<\/sup> minute but Kevin Kimani\u2019s shot hit the side net as Aboud Omar\u2019s corner kick in the 50<sup>th<\/sup> minute was cleared by Israel Emuge.<\/p>\n<p>An attacking minded Tusker FC won a free kick outside the 18 yard box after Teddy Akumu handled the ball but Kimani\u2019s attempt hit the wall.<\/p>\n<p>By the 54<sup>th<\/sup> minute, Tusker were still the better side pressing the visitors at the back but were yet to double the lead as Frank Ouna effected the first change of the match, bringing in Shaban Kenga for Eric Ochieng\u2019 at the half hour mark.<\/p>\n<p><b>Substitutions <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tusker\u2019s set piece master Kimani delivered another corner which was headed wide by the goal scorer in the 74<sup>th<\/sup> minute.<\/p>\n<p>Three minutes later, both teams made substitutions; Tusker pulled out an injured Lloyd Wahome for Luke Ochieng\u2019 as Gor brought on high-rated midfielder and Aspire Academy product Timonah Wanyonyi for a faded Dan Sserunkuma.<\/p>\n<p>In the 88<sup>th<\/sup> minute, Francis Kimanzi introduced Jesse Were for Clifford Alwanga before Kogalo\u2019s Daniel Onyango came in for David Owino but they could not find the equalizer even with three minutes of added time.<\/p>\n<p>Tusker are now one foot in the finals though will need a draw of any kind or rather a win to book their slot while Gor will be looking forward to turn tables with simply a win of any kind in the second leg set for Wednesday 4 June to grace the finals.<\/p>\n<p><b>Lineups <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Tusker Starting XI:<\/b>\u00a020 Samuel Odhiambo (GK),\u00a0 35.
