{"id":5586,"date":"2014-11-01T13:54:53","date_gmt":"2014-11-01T13:54:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/?p=5586"},"modified":"2014-11-01T14:00:29","modified_gmt":"2014-11-01T14:00:29","slug":"gormahia-3-muhoroni-youth-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/news\/gormahia-3-muhoroni-youth-1\/","title":{"rendered":"GorMahia 3 Muhoroni Youth 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gor Mahia edged closer to the title when they beat Muhoroni Youth<\/p>\n<p>courtesy of futaa.com<\/p>\n<p>Goals from Ugandan trio of Dan Sserenkuma, Geoffrey Walusimbi and Geoffrey Kizito against Muhoroni Youth ensured that Gor Mahia returned to winning ways and remained on course to retaining the Kenya Premier League title.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Muhoroni had the first chance on goal on the 4<sup>th<\/sup> but Daniel Waweru shot wide and two minutes later Akinyemi was put through \u00a0on goal but was rightfully \u00a0denied by the offside flag.<\/p>\n<p>Gor got their first chance on goal on the 6th minute but Walusimbi\u2019s header went wide over the bar and on the 8<sup>th<\/sup> minute Walusimbi put George Odhiambo through on goal but the forward shot wide with only the keeper to beat.<\/p>\n<p><b>Goals<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Gor took the lead on the 22<sup>nd<\/sup> minute through Geoffrey Walusimbi after a quick counter attack involving George Odhiambo, Walusimbi and Dan Sserenkuma with the later claiming the assist.\u00a0The lead lasted for seven minutes as the home side drew level on the 29<sup>th<\/sup> minute when Enos Ochieng\u00a0 beat Jerry Onyango on K&#8217;Ogalo goal with a calm finish after being put through by Ronald Otieno leaving Gor Mahia defenders who had adjudged that Ochieng was offside, \u00a0red-faced.<\/p>\n<p><b>Kizito goal<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An error by Muhoroni Youth keeper after 43 minutes of play resulted to an indirect free kick for Gor Mahia inside the Muhoroni Youth penalty \u00a0box which Gor Mahia capitalized on to restore their lead.\u00a0 Geoffrey Kizito curled the ball into the top left corner after a touch by Walusimbi. The teams left for a breather with Gor Mahia leading.<\/p>\n<p><b>First Sub<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Gor made their first change of the match after the break, with Timothy Otieno being rested for Eric Ochieng. Muhoroni Youth withdrew the visibly exhausted Akinyemi on the \u00a0\u00a050<sup>th<\/sup> minute for Michael Khaduli.<\/p>\n<p><b>Gor&#8217;s third goal<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Gor got the third goal from the run of play when Dan Sserenkuma latched into a through ball from Erick Ochieng to score his 15<sup>th<\/sup> goal of the season. The goal seemed to have dashed Muhoroni\u2019s hopes of a comeback with Gor knocking the ball around their after and held on to claim all the three points.<\/p>\n<p>Gor is at the summit of the league table with 57 points one ahead of the closest title rivals Sofapaka.
