After having retained the 2014 Kenya Premier league in a tumultous season, the next item on the club’s agenda is to renew the contract of Scottish coach Frank Nuttall. The Scot arrived midway through the season with no head-coaching experience and there were doubts among many regarding his coaching ability. As a result, he was placed on a probationary contract. But Nuttall rejuvenated a Gor Mahia side that had just recently put up a listless performance at the 2014 CECAFA cup.<\/p>\n

Next year Gor Mahia are faced with another uphill task in local as well as international tournaments. The first step has to be to renew Nuttall’s contract.<\/p>\n

Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier has praised Nuttall for his creativity.
\n\u201cWe are happy with what he has done here. When we engaged him in September, people said he is a fitness coach, who can’t help us. Over time he has disapproved all of us.<\/p>\n

“Look at the match against Ushuru for example. He started with a strange line-up putting players in unfamiliar positions. That was a brave move and we think he is the best man to do the job here.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to tell fans that Nuttall is going nowewhere. We are beginning negotiations soon to decide on the length of his new contract and renumeration. We hope that before he leaves, we will have agreed on a frame work of how everything goes.” said Rachier to goal.com<\/p>\n

Club secretary general Chris Omondi echoed the chairman’s words.
\n\u201cWe shall sit down as an executive committee and talk with him. We don\u2019t have much time because the continental assignments begin in January so we must iron out the issue as fast as we can,\u201d<\/p>\n

President Uhuru Kenyatta, Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero and Senator Mike \u2018Sonko\u2019 Mbuvi are among the top politicians to congratulate Gor Mahia for lifting the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title over the weekend.<\/div>\n

President Uhuru, through his social media account posted \u2013 \u201cCongratulations Gor Mahia on winning the Kenya Premier League\u201d.<\/div>\n

Governor Kidero who has played a pivotal role in financially supporting the club this season\u00a0 also posted on social media to send a word of congratulations :\u00a0 \u201cAs expected, Gor retains their title as KPL Champions. Congratulations\u201d.<\/div>\n

Sonko says he has admirted the club since he watched the legendary 1987 side. . He said Gor\u2019s win was important in that it shows the high level of football standards within Nairobi County. \u201cMy love for the club dates back to 1987 when players like Peter Dawo, John Bobby Ogolla and Sammy Onyango Jogoo grabbed headlines. As the Nairobi Senator, I feel compelled to support clubs within my region. I will work with the Nairobi Governor to ensure that Nairobi clubs are supported in the best way possible,\u201d Sonko said.<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, the team jetted back to Nairobi yesterday from Kisumu to a rapturous reception from the clubs fans<\/p>\n
