He has been linked with moves to Europe, to Sudan, Tanzania and now Zambia. When the Zambia deal was first announced, this blog opted to wait until it was confirmed. Zesco United have now made public their provisional list of players for the CAF champions league. This list which includes &#8220;Calabar&#8221; was previously only available to media houses.<\/p>\n<p>Zesco official Justin Mumba has said that nothing was done without consent of Gor Mahia. &#8220;The parent club must know and in this case, the player has an agent in Kenya who negotiated with Gor Mahia and as Zesco, we have a letter from Gor Mahia giving us the green light. At the moment no contract has been signed yet but both parties have reached an agreement&#8221; he told futaa.com<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Let it be clear also that in Zambia, we cannot sign a player without the consent of the parent club\u2019s consent. The agent negotiated with the club and we were only given the package pending medicals. All that has been agreed is through the agent but we insisted we cannot sign a contract until the player goes through medicals. We are a professional club who does things transparently and not under the table. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the deal, Calabar is set to pocket Ksh 1.8 million while Gor Mahia gets Ksh 1.4 million. This is a raw deal for the club and a starke contract to Europe where the parent club gets the majority of the transfer fees.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that Calabar&#8217;s name has been included in the CAF lists for both Zesco and Gor Mahia is not an issue since the lists are provisional and can be altered before January 15.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; I do not know why the anxiety. That is a provisional list because we had the deadline to beat. We therefore had to submit whatever we had and are expecting to have but upon everything, the final list shall be sent confirming all the participants. If the player, and not him (David Owino) alone, we also have one from Nigeria doesn\u2019t go through the exercise successful, he will be replaced at the appropriate time.&#8221; continued Mumba.<\/p>\n<p>This move likely brings an end to months of speculation about Calabar&#8217;s future. It is better for Gor Mahia for Gor Mahia to sell him now than risk letting him go for free in six months. However the Ksh 1.4 million amount is paltry.
