At the end of 2014, Gor Mahia had no choice but to overhaul the side. A number of key players left at the end of 2014 leaving what was already a paper thin squad with virtually no bench. This is aproduct of the fact that Gor Mahia hemorrhages a large number of players every December and every June. This bi-annual player departure often leaves Gor Mahia having to rebuild a squad almost from scratch every January. How to address this issue is a story for another day.<\/p>\n

The focus now is on preparing for the Africa Champions League encounter with CnaPS of Madagascar that will occur in two weeks. Coach Frank Nuttall has the tall order of rebuilding a competitive team. the club has done the right thing by scheduling a number of high profile friendlies. Bandari were the first to expose Gor Mahia’s during the previous weekend. And this past weekend, a very organized and efficient Zambian side went a step further.<\/p>\n

Nuttall has previously complained about a blunt forwardline. He now realizes that besides the attack, there is plenty more work to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were lost in midfield and that is where they dominated us,\u201d Nuttall told goal.com after the match. Some players in midfield appeared to lack match fitness. And it has been a while since Gor Mahia had a creative midfielder.<\/p>\n

Defence was also an issue. For the second goal, goalkeeper Jerim Onyango had to contend with three wide Open Power Dyanamos strikers. He had no chance.<\/p>\n

However Nuttall is confident that the myriad issues can be resolved prior to the ACL encounter.<\/p>\n

But there are many positives to take from the game as we build-up for our continental assignment in two weeks time. We have analysed our performance in a real game situation and we have time to work and improve before we play our next match.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frank Ouna for his part is looking forward to Meddie Kagere to solve Gor Mahia’s attacking problems<\/p>\n

\u201cWe created many chances and won two penalties but missed both. It\u2019s unfortunate we missed the penalties, but with the arrival of Meddie Kagere I am confident we will start scoring.\u201d he said to the Standard.<\/div>\n

Meanwhile Gor Mahia’s opponents continued to warm up for their encounter against Gor Mahia. This past weekend they played in the Madagascar Super cup against rivals Elgeco.\u00a0 Repors suggest that CNaPs played well but could not prise open the opposing defence. The game ended 0-0. This off-season, CNaps strengthened their unit by signing among others, Olivier<\/span> Ralaidimy<\/span><\/span> from Tana Sports<\/div>\n
