The match is sponsored by DSTV Supercup with Ksh 1.25 million at stake. The winners pocket Ksh 750,000 while the runners up will pocket Ksh 500,000.

With KPL and FKF still entangled in a disagreement, there have been doubts about whether FKF referees will be available. FKF had barred referees from officiating the match.

But yesterday, as Supersport and KPL unveiled the Super Cup, the chairman of referees’ association GMT Ottieno said they would use match officials just as last season, but would not disclose their identities for now. “I can confirm that we will use match officials from last season’s register, recognised by the federation and by the referees’ association as qualified,” Ottieno told the Standard.

Sofapaka has the Upper Hand

Going by recent results Sofapaka have the upper hand. The last time these two sides met, Sofapaka won 3-2. On that occasion Sofapaka appeared to have read Gor Mahia like a book. Indeed Sofapaka coach Sam Timbe appears to be a master of studying teams and coming up with a counter strategy as evidenced by their win over Power Dynamos.

“So far so good,” Sofapaka assistant coach David Ouma said. “The first two phases of our pre-season have gone according to plan. Although we have not hit the right notes, we are satisfied with our signings. We feel we have the depth even on bench. “The only absentees are Frankline Miheso who is still in Finland and Eugene Asike who is working on his fitness,” said assistant coach David Ouma to the Nation.

For coach Frank Nuttall, he now has a chance to make amends for the 2-3 loss last season. By now he knows what to expect from Sofapaka having had chances to study them. But Nuttall is still busy trying to come up with a cohesive unit after the side he coached last season was overhauled.

“Our pre-season training was good enough and playing against Power Dynamos was a perfect timing as we gauged our preparedness for a huge assignment in Caf competition. Of course, we are not going to underrate our opponents and will remain focused for this fixture because we want to advance.“We need a convincing result to carry to Madagascar and our main target is to avoid conceding a goal at home. It will give them (CNaPS) away goal advantage and this can complicate things for us when we replay in a fortnight.” said Nuttall to goal.com

Gor Mahia will take on League runners up and GoTV winners Sofapaka in the annual DSTV Supercup which pits the

[1
304,228
post-6156","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-2015-kenya-supercup","tag-gor-mahia-vs-sofapaka
["GET
