After dropping their first points of the season during the mashemeji derby, Gor Mahia will now turn their attention to their match against Nairobi City Stars on Wednesday. Coach Nuttall, fans and players are disapointed at having dropped points but Nuttall wants players to put the disappointment behind them and focus on City Stars.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course we are disappointed because we wanted to win the derby, but we must appreciate the point and shift our attention to the next game,\u201d said Nuttall to supersport.com<\/p>\n

Scorer Ali Abondo who continued his fine scoring form against AFC, also echoed his coaches words.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot change the results of the previous game and we cannot let it affect our psyche for the next game. We wanted to win the derby but it was not to be, now we must work towards winning the next game to maintain our lead,\u201d said Abondo who has scored five goals in the league.” said Abondo to supersport.<\/p>\n

It was always going to be tough in the mashemeji derby. Coach Zdravko Logarusic may not be astute when it comes to continental matches, he may not be that good at sharpening the attack. But he always has his players ready for derbies. And it showed by how hard AFC Leopards were fighting on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe boys gave their best against a hard fighting AFC Leopards and we unlucky not to come out of it with all the points. But now we have to prepare well for the Wednesday game and that is our focus now.\u201d continued Nuttall.<\/p>\n

Per the KPL website, the match against City Stars will be played on Wednesday at 4pm at the City stadium. Once again Gor Mahia have been assigned a midweek match at 4pm which makes it difficult for fans. But those who can attend should make it a priority.<\/p>\n

KPL Praises Fans for a peaceful derby<\/h2>\n

KPL Chairman Jack Oguda has praised fans of both Gor Mahia and AFC for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during Sunday’s derby. Oguda’s message which was posted on the KPL website reads as follows:<\/p>\n

I thank the two teams for putting up a keen contest played under true sportsmanship behooving Fifa\u2019s motto of fair play.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

In particular, I would like to thank the two sets of fans who turned out in large numbers to give the fixture a memorable and electric atmosphere. This meeting, notorious for crowd trouble, was on Sunday played in a friendly and peaceful setting and we would like to thank the fans for observing decorum throughout.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

I cannot gainsay the positives of trouble-free football matches in Kenya and indeed the world.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The two clubs, AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, together with their passionate fans, were true ambassadors of the Kenyan game on Sunday.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

My appeal to the clubs is to make good of the fan base as shown yesterday and engage them more with an aim of getting them feel like a family and have a sense of belonging.? We need clubs to generate more revenue and if the management works towards this and factor in safety and security, we will definitely increase the fan base and ensure that our arena are hospitable.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Both sets of fans congregated at the City center and maintained a peaceful atmosphere while entertaining the public. The fact that both teams are now without sponsors should give fans reason for pause. It is now clear that without good public relations, getting a sponsor is a tall order.<\/p>\n
