Gor Mahia was held to a goal-less draw by a resilient Sofapaka in a Kenyan Premier League match played on Sunday 19 April at the Nairobi City Stadium.<\/p>\n
Gor was the stronger side from the start getting\u00a0 two quick chances early in the match but Michael Olunga failed to\u00a0 capitalize on the opportunities; his shot on the 2nd<\/sup> minute hit the cross bar and on the fifth minute\u00a0 his low drive was easily saved by Sofapaka goalkeeper David Okelo, on the other end\u00a0 Kevin Omondi and Enock Agwanda had two half chances but they shot wide off target.<\/p>\n Bad challenges <\/b><\/p>\n The \u00a0first half was marred by clumsy challenges \u00a0which saw three Batoto Ba Mungu players;\u00a0 Willis Ouma, Kevin Omondi and Maurice Odipo getting booked while Gor had \u00a0Karim Nizigiyimana and Khalid Aucho booked \u00a0for bad tackles as well.<\/p>\n There were no goals in the first half as the two sides left for a breather with Gor arguably the better of the two sides.<\/p>\n Sofapaka subs<\/b><\/p>\n Sofapaka made early changes\u00a0 in the second half; Kevin Omondi was hauled off for Eli Asieche while the visibly ineffective Erastus Mwaniki was replaced by\u00a0 Danson Kago as Timbe looked to inject more fire power into his side.<\/p>\n Michael Olunga missed a glorious chance to give Gor the lead on the 61st<\/sup> minute failing to tap in Meddie Kagere\u2019s inviting pass from the right with the ball rolling out for a goal kick.<\/p>\n Game halted<\/b><\/p>\n The match was halted for some minutes\u00a0 with a quarter an hour to go after\u00a0 Fiston Abdoul Razak was hit by an object from the crowd which was not pleased by the referee\u2019s decision to book Dikir Glay in an scuffle with Fiston in which the\u00a0 Liberian appeared to have been fouled by the Burundian only for referee Raphael Nduati to book both players.<\/p>\n Play resumed\u00a0 afterwards and Michael Olunga had a great chance to give the champions the lead but he shot directly at David Okello who easily saved to help his side pick a point in the match.<\/p>\n Starting XI<\/b> :23.
