Gor Mahia beat Ulinzi 2-0 in an entertaining Kenya Premier League match. Yet again the scorers were Kagere and Olunga.<\/p>\n

But it was not just the fact that they both scored. Whats even more impressive is how they set each other up for goals. And how they are beginning to develop an understanding and a cohesion that will soon give KPL defenders sleepless nights. This combination is starting to be reminiscent of the Sserunkuma-Rama partnership of 2012.<\/p>\n

The match was well balanced in the first half with both teams giving a good account of themselves. Ulinzi as usual were highly physical. But they found that Collins Okoth “Gattuso” and Khalid Aucho in the Gor Mahia engine room were equally adept at dishing out physicality and Olunga is not easily muscled off the ball.<\/p>\n

The first goal was scored by Kagere on the stroke of half-time. Khalid Aucho headed the ball towards the Ulinzi goal. Olunga who is a constant bane to many defences, worried James Saruni and\u00a0 in the Ulinzi goal. Saruni thus failed to deal decisively with the ball and it fell to Kagere who scored. Gor Mahia went to half time leading 1-0.<\/p>\n

It is the second week in a row in which Olunga has worried a defender into a costly mistake.<\/p>\n

In the second half, coach Nuttall replaced Ali Abondo with Innocent Wafula. He had an immediate impact,\u00a0 setting up Olunga to score the second goal.<\/p>\n

Late Substitute George Odhiambo Blackberry almost scored in the waning moments but he could not finish after a sublime piece of skill.<\/p>\n

It was an impressive win for Gor Mahia against a team that is normally a difficult proposition for Gor Mahia to deal with. This is a team that prior to today was third in the league table and had not lost a match. And today was no different because Ulinzi came very motivated and ready to play. But Gor Mahia are proving resilient.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the resiliency, tactical discipline and brilliant display by the players,\u00a0 Gor Mahia continue to march on with what is their most impressive start since the Kenya Premier league was inaugurated.
