Gor Mahia extended their unbeaten record in Kenyan Premier League despite being restricted to a barren draw by Western Stima in a match played at Kisumu Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n
It was the fourth draw for Gor Mahia and it slowed them down from hitting the 30 point mark but they will still be glad to remain at the top of the standings. From the start, it was a relatively balanced affair with both teams giving as much as they received.<\/p>\n
But as the minutes rolled on, Stima upped their efforts but there was still no clear cut chance to talk about. Stima could only boast of a 30th minute free-kick awarded after Ali Abondo fouled Ronald Okoth inside his box.<\/p>\n
For the KPL champions, their best chance of the game came at the stroke of half time when Abondo picked out George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo and the latter set up Meddie Kagere but the last shot was not keen enough to count going above the post.<\/p>\n
Going into the second half, Gor Mahia with the backing of home fans, showed some flashes of aggression and they could easily have got a goal. Abondo and Kagere kept the Stima backline quite engaged and they were able to get the third of their opponents half often.<\/p>\n
But the best Gor Mahia could create from their efforts were corner kicks with Ali Abondo allowed to take most of them. By the 50th minute, the KPL champions had forced three corners which however, all ended fruitless though it still helped to bring out their opponents.<\/p>\n
Kagere was to come close in the 75th minute attempting with a shot that Gabriel Andika in Stima goal dealt with well. Two minutes after that, Gor Mahia\u2019s pressure allowed Ronald Omino to make another attempt at the Stima goal and the hosts attempted a feeble fight back with Ronald Okoth wasting to do something better.<\/p>\n
Gor Mahia captain Musa Mohammed was cautioned for foul play.
